BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (19-16) fell to the Bowie Baysox, 3-2, on Friday night at Mirabito Stadium, after the Baysox hit back-to-back home runs in the eighth inning.
With two outs in the eighth inning and the game tied 1-1, Frederick Bencosme and Dylan Beavers hit back-to-back home runs against Jordan Geber (1-1) to put Bowie up 3-1. Geber started his outing with 3.1 perfect innings with six strikeouts before the two homers.
Bowie (20-16) got on the board first in the top of the fourth inning against Luis Moreno. John Rhodes worked a one-out walk and Donta' Williams hit an RBI single later in the frame.
Binghamton tied the game in the fourth against Seth Johnson. Matt Rudick led off the frame with a walk and later scored on a throwing error after Rowdey Jordan hit into a fielder's choice.
Junior Santos struck out three batters in the ninth inning in his lone inning of work for the Ponies.
The Ponies threatened in the ninth inning. With runners at first and second and two outs, Kevin Parada hit an RBI single that cut the Ponies' deficit to 3-2. Binghamton stranded the potential tying and go-ahead runs in scoring position to end the game.
