The Brooklyn Cyclones (16-14) try to even their series at two wins apiece against the Rome Emperors (16-12) — the High-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves — on Friday at 7 p.m. from AdventHealth Stadium in Rome, Ga.

 

RHP Nolan McLean (2-1, 2.84) — the New York Mets’ No. 11 prospect entering 2024 per Baseball America — is expected to take the ball for the Cyclones. The Emperors are projected to counter with the Braves’ No. 9 farmhand per Baseball America, RHP Drue Hackenberg (2-2, 4.43).

GATOR-ADE: RHP Brandon Sproat has thrived in his first professional season for the Cyclones...After setting a career-high in innings pitched (5.2) and matching a career-best in strikeouts (8) on Thursday, the former Florida Gator enters play on Friday with a 2-1 record and 1.07 ERA (3 ER in 25.1 IP)...Sproat ranks fourth in the South Atlantic League in ERA (1.07), fifth in batting average against (.141), and sixth in strikeout rate (32.4%)...Sproat's 11.72 strikeouts-per-9-innings ratio is also good for third-highest in the SAL among pitchers with 25.0+ innings pitched.
