The Brooklyn Cyclones (24-20) go for a third-consecutive victory against the Hudson Valley Renegades (20-20) — the High-A affiliate of the New York Yankees — in the final game of a six-set homestand on Sunday at 2 p.m. from Maimonides Park in Brooklyn.
RHP Jonah Tong (1-0, 1.86) — the New York Mets’ No. 20 prospect per MLB Pipeline, is expected to take the hill for the Cyclones. The Renegades are projected to counter with RHP Cam Schlittler (3-1, 1.80).

DREW: RHP Drew Smith joins the Cyclones on a Major League rehab assignment on Sunday...The 30-year-old is the third different player to Brooklyn on MLB rehab in 2024...RHP Sean Reid-Foley and RHP Tylor Megill made one appearance each on April 14 vs. Asheville and April 27 vs. Wilmington, respectively...Smith was placed on the New York Mets' 15-day injured list with right shoulder soreness on April 27 (retro 4/24)...The Dallas Baptist alum joined Triple-A Syracuse for rehab on May 8 and made two appearances, allowing one run on one hit over 2.0 innings before being shut back down...In 10 relief appearances at the Major League level this year, Smith is 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA (3 ER in 10.0 IP) with one save, seven walks, and 11 K's...The Texas native was acquired by the New York Mets from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for former Cyclones INF Lucas Duda on July 27, 2017.
FELIP-IN' AMAZIN': LHP Felipe De La Cruz put together his best start in a Cyclones uniform on Saturday night against Hudson Valley...The 23-year-old celebrates his birthday after having shut out the Renegades for 6.0 innings with a career-high 13 strikeouts - one shy of the single game Brooklyn franchise record of 14 set by LHP Mike Cox (8/25/01 vs. HV) and RHP Brad Holt (7/24/08 vs. VER)...De La Cruz was the first Cyclone to strike out 13+ hitters in a single contest since RHP Rob Gsellman accomplished the feat on August 24, 2013, at Vermont...De La Cruz is the sixth Cyclones pitcher ever to hit the 13 punchout threshold and the third to strikeout 13 or more in 6.0 or fewer innings...De La Cruz enters play on Sunday with the eighth lowest ERA in the South Atlantic League (2.68)...The Dominican native is also tied for fifth in strikeouts (50) and seventh in the circuit in innings pitched (40.1).
