The Brooklyn Cyclones (2-5, 35-38) will try and take consecutive contests from the Aberdeen IronBirds (5-2, 39-34) — the High-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles — at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday from Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen, Md.
RHP Douglas Orellana (0-1, 1.47) is expected to take the hill for the Cyclones, making his second start since being reinstated from the injured list. The IronBirds are projected to counter with RHP Zach Fruit (2-3, 3.88).

THIS DATE IN CYCLONES HISTORY: On June 29, 2003, Pee Wee, the lovable Cyclones mascot named after Brooklyn Dodgers Hall of Fame shortstop Pee Wee Reese, makes his debut in Brooklyn, joining Sandy The Seagull...In 2004, OF Derran Watts became the second player in Cyclones' history to win the "Hit Sign / Win Suit" contest reminiscent of Ebbets Field...In 2014, New York Mets' Opening Day starter and Brooklyn, RHP Dillon Gee, joins the Cyclones on a Major League rehab assignment...In two starts with Brooklyn, Gee went 0-1 with a 2.08 ERA (2 ER in 8.2 IP) with two walks and 16 strikeouts...Gee was the first former Cyclone to be named the Mets' Opening Day starter and had his number honored at Maimonides Park in 2011.
RUSTED IRON: RHPs Dakota Hawkins (6.0 IP) and Josh Hejka (3.0) combined on a three-hit shutout in Friday's 7-0 win at Aberdeen...The shutout was the eighth of the year for the Cyclones' pitching staff and the first since Hawkins (5.0 IP), RHP Joey Lancellotti (1.0), and RHP Joshua Cornielly (3.0) combined on the first nine-inning no-hitter in franchise history vs. Aberdeen on June 4...Four of Brooklyn's eight shutouts in 2024 have come against the IronBirds...The Cyclones also blanked Aberdeen on May 3 and 4 on Coney Island...Since the start of 2023, eight of the 'Clones 19 shutouts (42.11%) have been against the 'Birds...Hawkins and Hejka combined to retire the final 19 batters in order in Friday's contest and did not allow a walk in the game...It was the first time Cyclones' pitching did not allow a free pass in a contest since a 1-0 loss at Greenville in Game 1 of a doubleheader on August 31, 2023...It was the first zero-walk performance by Brooklyn in a nine-inning game since an 8-5 win at Asheville on August 26, 2023.
NICK SQUARED: OF Nick Morabito and IF Nick Lorusso have been two of Brooklyn's biggest offensive contributors as of late...The duo each put together multi-hit games in Sunday's win over Jersey Shore...Lorusso is seventh in the South Atlantic League in OPS (.867), eighth in slugging (.496) and total bases (113), tied for ninth in extra-base hits (27), and 10th in RBI (40)...Lorusso is second among New York Mets' full-season minor leaguers in OPS (.867)...He is also third in slugging (.496), tied for third in extra-base hits (27), fourth in home runs (11) and RBI (40), tied for fourth in triples (3), and fifth in total bases (113)...Morabito is tied for 11th in Minor League Baseball in stolen bases (33) and tied for 12th in on-base percentage (.430)...Since making his South Atlantic League debut on May 7, the former second-round pick is tied for second in the league in steals (22) and tied for eighth in runs scored (29)...The 21-year-old leads all full-season Mets farmhands in batting average (.324), on-base percentage (.430), and stolen bases (33)...He also is second in hits (78), tied for third in runs scored (43), fourth in OPS (.845), and fifth in walks (38).
