Here are the Brooklyn Cyclone Game Notes for today's game.

The Brooklyn Cyclones (9-16, 42-49) go for back-to-back victories against the Rome Emperors (8-17, 44-45) — the High-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves — at noon on Wednesday from Maimonides Park on Coney Island in Brooklyn, N.Y.

RHP Jack Wenninger (0-1, 5.87) — the New York Mets’ No. 26 prospect per Baseball America — is scheduled to take the hill for the Cyclones in his Maimonides Park debut. The Emperors are projected to counter with RHP Jhancarlos Lara (0-1, 5.28), the Braves’ No. 9 farmhand per the same publication.

LAST TIME OUT: Brooklyn grabbed the opening game of a six-game set against Rome on Tuesday night, 3-1...CF Nick Morabito enjoyed one of his best performances since joining the Cyclones, notching two hits and drawing a walk...The 21-year-old laced the go-ahead RBI single in the bottom of the eighth before later scoring from second on a LF Chris Suero sacrifice fly...Both Morabito and Suero finished with multi-hit affairs...RHP Jonathan Pintaro continued his stretch of now four-straight starts without allowing an earned run...The Pelham, Ala. native struck out five over 4.2 innings...RHP Ben Simon silenced all seven batters he faced in relief, while RHP Eduardo Herrera recorded the final out with the tying runs on base in the ninth to earn his first save since joining the New York Mets organization.

 

THIS DATE IN CYCLONES' HISTORY: On July 24, 2004, Cyclones manager Tony Tijerina was ejected for arguing a safe/out call on a stolen base attempt by Corey Coles in the third inning...In the fourth inning, hitting coach Donovan Mitchell, who had taken over as manager in Tijerina's absence, was also ejected for arguing a strike call...Pitching coach Hector Berrios ends up managing the rest of the game...In 2008, RHP Brad Holt tied a franchise record with 14 strikeouts over 6.0 innings of two-hit shutout ball...Holt became the first right-hander to accomplish the feat for the Cyclones in an 8-1 win vs. Vermont...In 2013, LHP Dario Álvarez struck out 12 over 6.0 scoreless frames, allowing one hit...2B L.J. Mazzilli went 3-for-4 and provided the go-ahead RBI double in the top of the ninth in a 3-2 win at Lowell...In 2017, the winning run scored on a fielder's choice and throwing error off the bat of C Carlos Sánchez in the bottom of the 11th during a 4-3 walk-off win vs. Aberdeen.
