Here are the Brooklyn Cyclone Game Notes for today's game.

The Brooklyn Cyclones (13-19, 46-52) go for consecutive victories against the Aberdeen IronBirds (17-15, 51-47) — the High-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles — at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday from Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen, Md.

RHP Jordany Ventura (2-1, 4.01) is scheduled to take the hill for the Cyclones in his first start and appearance with the club since May 23. The IronBirds are projected to counter with RHP Daniel Lloyd (2-0, 5.09), who is making his first start of the season.

LAST TIME OUT: Brooklyn and Aberdeen split Wednesday's doubleheader...The IronBirds took the lid-lifter in eight innings, 3-2...The Cyclones captured the nightcap, 3-2...Aberdeen took the opener on a walk-off sacrifice fly by SS Carter Young...SS Mateo Gil fell a triple short of the cycle in Game 1, registering a single in the second, a solo home run in the fourth, and a double in the sixth...In Game 2, RHP Jonah Tong struck out 10 over 5.1 innings of two-run ball to earn his fourth South Atlantic League victory...RHP Joshua Cornielly recorded the final five outs to earn his league-high-tying eighth save...The Cyclones scored all three of their runs in the nightcap on ground outs, two of which came off the bat of 2B Junior Tilien.

 

THIS DATE IN CYCLONES' HISTORY: On August 1, 2010, LHP Angel Cuan struck out 10 over 5.2 innings, allowing two runs on three hits, en route to his fifth win in a 7-4 win at Staten Island...Brooklyn collected 14 hits that night, led by SS Rylan Sandoval's 3-for-5 performance...In 2013, the Cyclones erased a 4-2 seventh-inning deficit, scoring five runs in that frame in a 9-4 win at Williamsport...CF Jonathan Clark's two-run triple tied the game before SS Gavin Cecchini provided the go-ahead run-scoring single...In 2014, after allowing the go-ahead run to score in the top of the ninth, Brooklyn drew even on a CF John Mora sacrifice fly and walked off on an SS Amed Rosario RBI single in a 4-3 win vs. Auburn...In 2016, RHP Erik Manoah Jr. (7.0 IP), LHP Taylor Henry (1.0), and RHP Joe Zanghi (1.0) combined on a five-hit shutout in a 1-0 win vs. Aberdeen...The game's only run was scored on a 1B Pete Alonso double in the bottom of the fourth.


THE TONG SONG: RHP Jonah Tong has been magnificent for the Cyclones in the last few weeks...After earning the win in Game 2 on Wednesday, the 21-year-old is 3-2 with a 2.48 ERA (9 ER in 32.2 IP), allowing only 24 hits and 10 walks, while striking out 50 over his last seven starts since June 20...Since making his South Atlantic League debut on May 2, the Markham, Ont. native leads the circuit and is second among all High-A pitchers in strikeouts (88)...Tong is also fourth in batting average against (.219), sixth in ERA (3.36), seventh in WHIP (1.26), and tied for eighth in innings pitched (64.1)...Tong has been as good as any pitcher in Minor League Baseball this year, tossing 26.0 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run to start the season...Among full-season Minor Leaguers with at least 80.0 innings of work, the Markham, Ont. native is first in FIP (1.97), second in strikeout rate (36.0%), fourth in strikeouts (124), and fifth in strikeout-to-walk rate (26.7%).
