The Brooklyn Cyclones (23-27, 56-60) will look to snap a two-game slide against the Jersey Shore BlueClaws (26-24, 64-52) — the High-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies — at 7 p.m. on Thursday from Maimonides Park on Coney Island in Brooklyn, N.Y.
The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive an Amazin’ Starts Here Socks giveaway.
LHP Zach Thornton (1-1, 2.38) expects to get the ball for Brooklyn. The BlueClaws are projected to counter with RHP Mitch Neunborn (1-1, 2.38).

BOARDWALK TO THE BIGS: RHP J.T. Ginn became the 102nd former Cyclone to appear in the Major Leagues, making his debut last night for the Oakland Athletics...The 25-year-old threw 2.0 innings of scoreless and hitless relief, walking 1 and striking out 3 vs. Tampa Bay...Ginn spent the second half of the 2021 season on Coney Island, joining the team on July 19 from Single-A St. Lucie...The right-hander went 3-4 with a 3.38 ERA (20 ER in 53.1 IP), walking 12, and striking out 46...Ginn is the 4th Cyclone alum to make his debut this year, joining RHP Christian Scott (NYM, 5/4), RHP Michel Otañez (OAK, 6/10), and RHP Eric Orze (OAK, 8/21).
TO SMITH-EREENS: UT D'Andre Smith has been blasting the ball across the diamond since returning from the 7-day injured list on July 22...The 23-year-old launched a 2-run home run in Tuesday's loss to Jersey Shore, and finished the contest with a season-high 4 RBI...Smith has 5 multi-hit games during an 11-contest on-base streak dating back to the opening game of August 7's doubleheader vs. Hudson Valley...In that span, Smith is hitting .357/.372/.524 with a .896 OPS, 4 doubles, a home run, 7 RBI, and 2 stolen bases...The 23-year-old is hitting .284/.303/.419 in 20 games since being reinstated but has hit another gear since the calendar flipped to August...In 14 games this month, Smith is batting .353/.377/.549 with a .926 OPS, 4 runs scored, 4 doubles, 2 home runs, 8 RBI, and 2 steals...The former 5th-round pick is 3rd in the South Atlantic League in batting average (.353), tied for 5th in hits (18), 6th in slugging (.549) and OPS (.926), and tied for 6th in total bases (28) in the month.
