Will Sammon The Athletic: Do the Mets have enough to swing a deal for White Sox ace Garrett Crochet? "...people familiar with Chicago’s farm system, the organization needs better players up the middle (spots like shortstop, second base and center field)...One rival executive suggested that for someone like Crochet, the Mets would probably have to part with a pitching prospect to help balance things out. Thus, other teams that have pitching needs boast better systems and may be better fits. Just from a speculative standpoint, the Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles come to mind."

MLB.com: 40-man deadline: Which prospects are getting roster spots? Joe Trezza gives the players likely to be protected in the Rule 5 Draft.  The deadline to protect players is November 19th.  For the Mets he suggests Mike Vasil (#18 on the MLB Mets Top 30 List) and Dom Hamel (#15).
