NY Post: Mets belt four homers in intrasquad scrimmage. "Brandon Nimmo was nailed at the plate attempting to score from second base on a single to center. Nimmo was thrown out by Jake Mangum. Left-hander Josh Walker will get the start for the Mets in their Grapefruit League opener in West Palm Beach against the Nationals at 6 p.m."
Mets.com: Notes: Dom played hurt; Lindor HR; first cut; Cookie throws. "Carrasco threw about 30 pitches in completing two simulated innings Friday on a back field, hinting at the possibility the Mets could open the season with their rotation fully whole...Right-hander Jordan Yamamoto was reassigned to Minor League camp. 'We need to get him stretched out,' Showalter said."
Francisco Lindor went into the tunnel to get a baseball for a fan.

Dom Smith talks about the right labrum injury from last year and how he feels now:
— SNY (@SNYtv) March 18, 2022
"I'm happy that I'm here, I'm happy that the Mets still value me, and I can't wait to get out there and play." pic.twitter.com/icdNSRO4jZ

SNY.TV: Mets free agency and trade buzz: Padres have expressed interest in Dom Smith, Jeff McNeil.
SNY.TV: Buck Showalter on how Starling Marte may be Mets baserunning solve.
SNY.TV: Francisco Lindor felt energized from Mets fans being in stands, can't wait for Opening Day.
Vaxxed Francisco Lindor not worried some Mets will miss home games. “'I think that is still quite some time from Opening Day for us, so we’ll worry about it once we get closer ...At the end of the day whatever they decide is what they decide, so we’ll see what happens. I got my vaccine, so I’m good.'”
NY Post: Eduardo Escobar quickly winning over Mets’ clubhouse. "'Real calmness about him, doesn’t need to show everybody,' Showalter said Friday at Clover Park."
NY Post: Mets newcomer Mark Canha full of praise for team’s staff, New York City. "'“I feel like someone is always asking me if I need help,' Canha said Friday. 'It’s just there are so many resources here, the staff has been incredible.'"
Mets.com: Foodie Canha comfy with full count, full plate.
213 Miles From Shea: Get To Know A Non-Roster Invitee: Alex Claudio. Once again Elliot Teichman is back detailing the Non-Roster Players the Mets have in Spring Training. About Alex Claudio he notes: "...a couple of seasons ago when he led the league in games, he was much better against lefties. Lefties hit .219/.302/.378 while righties hit .274/.357/.469."
213 Miles from Shea: Get To Know A Non-Roster Invitee: Colin Holderman. "Holderman, at least statistically, took a step forward last season, posting a 3.38 ERA and 1.000 WHIP between 24.0 innings in Binghamton and St. Lucie."
Mets Daddy: Dominic Smith Might Be Poised For Great 2022.
Amazing Avenue: One Last Move: Finding a Dom Smith trade. Moving the former top prospect would open up a spot on the bench and potentially reinforce the bullpen mix.
Mets360: Mets’ 2022 Opening Day rotation short on homegrown players. As always Brian makes a lot of great points including "...you didn’t have an issue with either the 1986 or 2000 Mets rotations, the fact that four of the five guys from 2022 came from other places shouldn’t bother you too much, either." Mack's Mets:
"If you could get him on a one-year, high average salary, it'll be good for the Mets and Michael Conforto."

Born on this date:
- Richie Ashburn (1927)
- Don Rose (1947)
- Tim Corcoran (1953)

Butto (1998)
1999 - The career of New York Mets pitcher Paul Wilson is
derailed again when he suffers a partially torn ligament in his pitching elbow
while warming up before a three-inning stint in a minor league game. An MRI
will show a partial tear of a ligament in his elbow, and on March 30th he will
undergo Tommy John surgery which will sideline him for the year.
2012 - New York Mets owners Fred Wilpon and Saul Katz,
facing a $300 million lawsuit, agree to pay $162 million into a trust fund for
victims of Bernard Madoff's fraudulent investment scheme, thus averting a
trial. The payoff is because the Mets were among the few investors who made
money out of their investments in Madoff's fund, while thousands of smaller
investors lost everything when the whole house of cards collapsed in 2009.
Wilpon and Katz will put up $29 million of their own money in the settlement.
Here is what Dave Rubin of Mack’s Mets said about the settlement.
