Stud Muffins Bats Explode in Another Shutout Win over Reading
BINGHAMTON, NY – The Binghamton Stud Muffins (27-41) scored six runs in the first two innings en-route to a decisive 11-0 win over the Reading Fightin' Phils (29-39) on Saturday evening at Mirabito Stadium. The Stud Muffins have held the Fightin's scoreless over the last 22 innings played.
The scoring began with an RBI single from Hayden Senger followed by a two-run double from Jeremy Vasquez off Reading starter Adam Leverett (1-7), then Vasquez scored on a fielding error on a Wyatt Young single which put the Muffins on top 4-0.
Two more runs came across in the second with an RBI single from Ronny Mauricio and RBI double from Senger. Senger finished the night 2-4 with two RBI.
Mauricio wasn't finished yet as he tacked on an RBI sacrifice fly in the fourth and a two-run shot in the sixth. Mauricio ended the game with four RBI going 2-4. He also has a homer in back-to-back games.
The Stud Muffins added two more runs in the eighth on solo home runs from Matt Winaker and Francisco Alvarez to make it 11-0. Alvarez went 3-5 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Binghamton starter Alec Kisena (2-5) pitched six innings giving up four hits and a walk while striking out four. David Griffin then pitched three innings giving up a hit and striking out five.
The Stud Muffins will conclude their six-game homestand against Reading on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 PM with pregame coverage beginning at 12:50 PM on NewsRadio 1290 WNBF and 92.1 FM.
