The Binghamton Rumble Ponies, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Mets, are proud to announce that third basemen Brett Baty has been named the July MiLB Player of the Month for the Eastern League.
Baty batted .365/.435/.688 and led the league in home runs (eight), RBI (27), total bases (66), slugging percentage (.688) and OPS (1.123). He finished second in hits (35), third in average (.365), fifth in on-base percentage (.435) and sixth in runs (17). Baty had 13 multi-hit games and reached safely in 21 of 23 contests.
Baty wowed fans at Mirabito Stadium with a career-high seven RBI on Friday July 29th against New Hampshire. In that game, Baty was 3-5 with two home runs, including a grand slam. From July 12th through the 29th, Baty hit .490 over a 12-game hit streak, nine of which were multi-hit games, including six consecutive, and hit five home runs, drove in 19 runs, and carried an OPS of 1.431.
Baty, 22, was selected by the Mets in the first round (12th overall) of the 2019 MLB Draft out of Lake Travis High School in Austin, Texas.
The Rumble Ponies return home on Tuesday August 9th to begin a six-game series with the Altoona Curve, Double-A Affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
