Tim Healy Newsday: Realmuto still wonders why Mets passed on him. “'They called me right when the offseason started and said, ‘Hey, we want you to be a part of the Mets organization.’ I said, great, works for me,' Realmuto said...'I didn’t hear from them for a month after that,' Realmuto continued. 'Not a word. Then the stuff about McCann starts popping up on the TV.'”  What the article doesn't say is that apparently the JT's Agent told the Mets that JT wanted to wait.  The Mets did not want to wait and moved on the James McCann but you would think the Mets would have at least made an offer.

NY Post from 12/14/2020 - Mets’ pursuit of J.T. Realmuto was derailed by time.

Danny Abriano SNY.TV: Who should the Mets' DH be in 2023? Breaking down the external and internal options. "Jose Abreu is a free agent, and could be a strong fit." He also looks at J.D. Martinez and Trey Mancini as well as possible in house candidates Mark Vientos, Brett Baty, Daniel Vogelbach and Francisco Alvarez.

Tribune News Service/Boston Herald: What Steve Cohen, Mets can learn from Astros. "This is a ridiculously deep group of talent all identified and developed by the Astros themselves. The Mets — and every other team in baseball, for that matter — should find out what the Astros player development department is doing and then do exactly that."

Bill Madden NY Daily News: Phillies-Astros World Series exposes the flaws in the Mets, Yankees. "On the other hand, while the Phillies and Braves are pretty much set, save for adding some pitching pieces, the Mets are looking at a major rebuild of their pitching staff and tough decisions to be made with Jacob deGrom, Edwin Diaz, Chris Bassitt (complicated by his season-ending pratfalls against the Braves and Padres), Taijuan Walker, Carlos Carrasco, Seth Lugo, Trevor May — plus Brandon Nimmo — all free agents. They will spend what it takes to retain Diaz, who has come to thrive in New York, but the others are problematic."
