From the Mets Official Release: The New York Mets tonight announced they have opted not to tender a contract to first baseman Dominic Smith and RHP SeanReid-Foley. All other Mets players are signed for 2023 or will be tendered a contract.

NY PostIt has been quite a downfall for Smith, who was the Mets’ first-round pick (11th overall) in 2013, the same draft in which Aaron Judge went to the Yankees at No. 32.

Anthony DiComo Mets.com: "Outside of Smith and Reid-Foley, the Mets tendered contracts to every player not covered under a guaranteed deal. It’s a group that includes Alonso, Jeff McNeil, Luis Guillorme, Tomás Nido, Drew Smith and Joey Lucchesi, all of whom are arbitration-eligible and will be expected to play significant roles for the club next season."

Mets get two DFA'd Marlins Pitchers for Franklin Sanchez: "The New York Mets today announced the club has acquired RHP Elieser Hernandez and RHP Jeff Bringham from Miami in exchange for minor league RHP Franklin Sanchez and a player to be named later or cash...Sanchez, 22, threw as hard as 100 MPH with Brooklyn and St. Lucie last year, 2 -2, 3,79 ERA with 42 Ks in 35.2 innings.  He also went 0-1 with a 12.27 ERA in the Arizona Fall league in 7 games...The move gives the Mets Major League depth in exchange for a prospect with a lot of potential though he was not on MLB's Top 30 Mets Prospect list."

NY Post: Hernandez, 27, has a 5.04 ERA over parts of five seasons with the Marlins and the 30-year-old Brigham has pitched 24 innings for Miami. Both were designated for assignment by the Marlins following this past season.

SNY.TV: "Both Hernandez and Brigham have minor league options, meaning they can be sent down without the Mets losing them to another team."

Mets News and Links: Press Release: The New York Mets announced today that the club has claimed right-handed pitcher William Woods off waivers from Atlanta. Woods, 23, made his major league debut with the Braves this season, tossing 2.0 scoreless innings with two strikeouts in two appearances. In four minor league seasons in the Atlanta organization, he is 2-9 with a 4.60 ERA (55 ER/107.2 IP) in 59 games (18 starts).

SNY.TV: "He was the 25th-ranked prospect in the Braves' farm system, per MLB Pipeline. 'The key for Woods is going to be continuing to improve his command, though it doesn’t have to be as pinpoint in a relief role," MLB Pipeline wrote in its scouting report. "In shorter stints, a fastball that hits triple digits in shorter stints with a nasty slider could get the job done.'"

MLB.com: Jon Heyman can 'easily see' deGrom to the Dodgers

Danny Abriano SNY.tv: Mets shouldn't lose Jacob deGrom, and he shouldn't want to leave them "Is part of this emotional and irrational? Yes. But deGrom should be a career Met."

New York Post Sports+: A look back at Billy Eppler’s first year as Mets GM shows how tricky his task is this offseason.  Greg Joyce looks at the Good moves (Scherzer, Marte, Canha, Buck, Bassitt) and the bad (Darin Ruf) and the challanges of this off season.
