SNY.TV: Jeff McNeil is looking forward to playing behind Mets pitching staff that’s ‘gotten even better’. The post includes this quote from Jeff: “'I know losing deGrom is going to hurt a little bit, but we’re replacing him with Verlander, who’s just as good,'...'I’m really looking forward to that. And losing Bassitt is going to be tough, but we’ve brought in some pretty incredible pitchers.'”

Kevin Kernan ballnine: Ballpark Rankings '23. Kevin puts San Diego's Petco Park at #1 followed by the Pirates PNC Park, #3 Fenway Park and #4 Wrigley Field.  Where does Citi Field fall?  #21 as he adds: "Really needs something unique to show it is where the Mets play, not a place where the former owner loved the Dodgers. The Tom Seaver statue was a tremendous addition by Steve Cohen. Shea Bridge is a fun walk. Good food."

Rising Apple: A sleeper candidate who could get more innings than expected in 2023.  Tim Boyle discusses LHP Josh Walker noting "The sample size as a reliever thus far has been minimal. However, a rate of 15.5 strikeouts per 9 in 22 total innings for the Mets on the farm last season is notable enough to catch our attention."

Bill Madden NY Daily News: Bill Madden: Yankees didn’t do much this offseason, but neither did rest of AL East. In addition to talking about the Yankees, Bill mentions this - "Thanks in large part to Steve Cohen, MLB reaped a record total of $78,479,606 in luxury tax revenue this year according to the estimable baseball salary and tax watchdog Ron Blum of the Associated Press. It is worth noting that this is the same pool that MLB uses for annual payments to the (now 179) pre-1980 players who got jobbed out of their pensions years ago...it would cost MLB and the Players Association $5 million...a year to get all those 179 players up to $10,000. Surely with all this revenue at their disposal, there must be a way for MLB and the Union to do the right thing by these aging former players who, through no fault of their own, never got a pension."

Lindsey Nelson, selected by the expansion Mets as the team's lead announcer in 1962, reveals he will not be returning to the Mets broadcast booth this season, ending a 17-year partnership with Ralph Kiner and Bob Murphy. The colorfully clad Hall of Fame announcer, who will eventually do play-by-play for the Giants, is replaced by Steve Albert, the younger brother of the well-known NBA Knicks and NHL Rangers' broadcaster Marv Albert.

2001

Fifty-eight-year-old Tommie Agee, the 1966 American League Rookie of the Year, dies of cardiac arrest in Manhattan. The World Series standout made two memorable catches in center field at Shea Stadium (possibly saving five runs) and homered in the Mets' 5-0 victory over the Orioles in Game 3 of the 1969 Fall Classic.

2008

The Mets and outfielder Endy Chavez agree on a $3.85 million, two-year deal. The 29-year-old Venezuelan, who missed most of last season with a hamstring pull, will always be remembered in Mets lore for 'the catch' in Game 7 of the 2006 NLCS against the Cardinals.

2010

The Mets, in need of a center fielder, until Carlos Beltran returns to the lineup in early May, deal 30-year-old right-handed reliever Brian Stokes (2-4, 3.97) to the Angels in exchange for the highly-paid but under-achieving Gary Matthews Jr. (.250, 4, 50). Los Angeles agrees to pay a significant portion of the slumping outfielder's $50 million five-year contract that 'Little Sarge' signed three seasons ago with the Halos.

Cespedes, the star of the team's late surge in 2015, returns after protracted negotiations, signing for three years and $75 million, while the price tag for Bastardo is $12 million over two years.

2020 - News emerges that Luis Rojas, son of major league outfielder and manager Felipe Alou and brother of Moises Alou, will be named manager of the Mets, in replacement of Carlos Beltran, who was dismissed for his role the 2017 Astros sign-stealing scandal before he could actually manage a game. Rojas has chosen to use his family's true last name, which was erroneously changed to the matrimonial name when his father became a professional ballplayer in the 1950s.
