The Brooklyn Cyclones (2-0, 30-37) look to stretch their win streak to a season-high-tying four against the Hudson Valley Renegades (0-2, 39-29) — the High-A affiliate of the New York Yankees — on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. from Maimonides Park on Coney Island. 

LHP José Quintana (NR) — a 2016 American League All-Star — is scheduled to take the hill for Brooklyn as part of a Major League rehab star against the Yankees’ No. 8 prospect, Hudson Valley’s RHP Drew Thorpe (6-1, 2.64).

LAST TIME OUT: Brooklyn earned their 3rd-straight win on Saturday night vs. Hudson Valley...The Cyclones scored the games only runs in the bottom of the 1st...C Kevin Parada powered an RBI triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by RF Abraham Almonte...RHP Joshua Cornielly (3.0 IP), RHP Dylan Tebrake (2.1), LHP Eli Ankeney (1.2), and RHP Wilkin Ramos (2.0) combined for a 4-hit shutout in a bullpen game for Brooklyn...Tebrake earned his first career victory, Ankeney garnered a hold, and Ramos collected his first save of 2023...RHP Juan Carela composed a quality start with 6.0 innings of 2-run ball but suffered his 3rd loss for the Renegades. 

 

DINKY DONUTS: RHP Joshua Cornielly (3.0 IP), RHP Dylan Tebrake (2.1), LHP Eli Ankeney (1.2), and RHP Wilkin Ramos (2.0) combined on a 4-hit shutout in Brooklyn’s 2-0 win vs. Hudson Valley on Saturday evening...That marked the Cyclones’ 1st donut of an opponent since a 5-0 victory at Aberdeen last Saturday...RHP Blade Tidwell (7.0 IP) and Tebrake (2.0) united on a 4-hit blanking of the IronBirds...It was also the Cyclones' second shutout of Hudson Valley this season...RHP Tyler Stuart (6.1 IP) and RHP Jace Beck (0.2) picked up a 4-hitter in Game 1 of a doubleheader on May 21...The ‘Clones have accumulated 6 shutouts through the first 67 games of 2023...Brooklyn pitching tallied 7 shutouts throughout the entirety of the 2022 campaign. 

 

DOUBLE TROUBLE: LHP José Quintana and RHP Elieser Hernández both join the Cyclones on Major League rehab assignments this Sunday...Quintana made 2 appearances (1 start) in the Florida State League, allowing 2 unearned runs on 4 hits with 4 strikeouts over 4.2 innings...Quintana has made 315 Major League appearances (289 starts) over an 11-year career with the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Angels, San Francisco Giants, Pittsburgh Pirates, and St. Louis Cardinals...The left-hander was named a 2016 American League All-Star with the White Sox...Quintana signed a 2-year contract with New York back on December 9...He was placed on the 15-day injured list on March 30 (retro 3/27) with a left rib fracture...Quintana was transferred to the 60-day IL on April 11...Hernández made 3 rehab starts with St. Lucie, tossing 3.1 shutout and hitless innings, walking 1 and striking out 4...The 28-year-old has pitched in 90 MLB games (48 starts) over 5 seasons with the Miami Marlins...Hernández was acquired by New York with RHP Jeff Brigham for minor league RHP Franklin Sánchez and OF Jake Mangum on November 18, 2022.
