Game Recap and Highlights: Ritter Leads Surging Ponies Offense To Second Straight Win in Baseballtown

READING, PA – The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (25-27) scored in the double digits for a second straight game as they defeated the Reading Fightin Phils 10-8 on Thursday night at FirstEnergy Stadium. Binghamton has taken the first two games of the series.

Brandon McIlwain got the Ponies on the board against Tyler Phillips (1-4) in the first on an RBI double. In the second, Rowdey Jordan blasted a three-run homer into the pool in right field for his second homer in as many games and put the Ponies up 4-0.  The next batter, Luke Ritter, hit a solo homer over the right centerfield wall to give the Rumble Ponies a 5-0 lead. It's his eighth home run in his last 11 games. Ritter now has four homers in his last three games, hitting at least one in each game, and now has 11 for the season.

After Reading (20-32) cut the Ponies lead to 5-4, Ritter would add a two-run double in the fourth that put Binghamton ahead 7-4. Ritter finished with two hits, two runs, one walk, and three RBI. He now has seven RBI over the first two games of the series.

With the Ponies ahead 9-4 in the fifth, Matt Rudick launched a solo home run to right to make it 10-4. It's Rudick's eighth homer of the year.

After Reading scored four in the bottom of the seventh to cut the Binghamton lead to 10-8, Nolan Clenney closed the door in relief. He allowed just one hit over two and a third scoreless frames. Clenney also earned his first save of the season closing out the ninth.

Jose Chacin (1-2) earned his first win of the season allowing four runs over six innings with one walk and six strikeouts.

The two teams continue their six-game series in Baseballtown on Friday night with first pitch at 7:00 PM and the NYCM Insurance Pregame Show getting underway at 6:45 PM on the WNBF Rumble Ponies Radio Network.

Postgame Notes: Rudick finished 2-for-4 with three runs scored…Jordan has six RBI over the first two games of the series…each member of the Binghamton starting lineup had at least one hit.
