The Brooklyn Cyclones (17-8, 45-45) battle the Wilmington Blue Rocks (9-16, 38-51) — the High-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals — on Wednesday afternoon at 12 p.m. from Maimonides Park on Coney Island in Brooklyn, N.Y. 

RHP Blade Tidwell (7-3, 3.29 ERA) — the Mets’ top pitching prospect per MLB Pipeline — is scheduled to toe the slab for Brooklyn against Wilmington’s LHP Andrew Alvarez (5-2, 2.76 ERA).

LAST TIME OUT: Brooklyn dropped Tuesday’s series opener vs. Wilmington, 11-9, in 10 innings...Blue Rocks scored 4 in the 10th on a 2B Viandel Peña single and a 3-run home run by CF Jeremy De La Rosa...Brooklyn stranded the tying runs on base in the 10th after RBIs from SS Junior Tilien and CF Alex Ramírez...Blue Rocks trailed, 7-5, entering the 9th...Tied the game on a De La Rosa triple and a run-scoring single from LF Jared McKenzie...LF Rhylan Thomas picked up a game-high-tying 4 hits for the Cyclones...Peña finished with 4 hits, 3 doubles, and 5 RBI for Wilmington...Ramírez collected 3 hits and 3 RBI, while Tilien drove in 4...C Kevin Parada, 3B William Lugo, and DH Omar De Los Santos all accrued multi-hit nights for the ‘Clones...De La Rosa added 3 hits and 4 RBI for the ‘Rocks...DH Will Frizzell added 2 hits, including a solo home run in the 8th...McKenzie also posted a multi-hit effort...In all, 20 runs were scored on 32 hits in the contest. 


CUTTING ‘EM DOWN: With 4 strikeouts last Thursday night, RHP Blade Tidwell set the Cyclones’ single-season strikeout record (107)...The 22-year-old surpassed RHP Junior Santos’ mark of 105 set in 2022...His 107 K’s sit 4th overall in franchise history and is 6 behind RHP Alec Kisena (113) for 3rd...Tidwell has earned the win in 5 of his last 6 outings with Brooklyn winning all 6 games...He has permitted just 7 runs on 25 hits over 38.0 innings...He has walked only 10 (6.9 BB%) and struck out 47 (32.4 K%) in those contests...Tidwell punched out a career-high and team-season-best-matching 11 in consecutive starts on July 6 at Wilmington and June 30 vs. Jersey Shore...This comes after he tied a then-career-best with 10 strikeouts on June 11 vs. Greenville...Tidwell also whiffed 10 on May 4 vs. Aberdeen...Over his last 11 starts dating back to May 17 at Hudson Valley, Tidwell is 7-0 with a 1.70 ERA (11 ER in 58.1 IP) with just 35 hits allowed...The Loretto, Tenn. native has walked 30 and struck out 80 (34.0 K%)...Tidwell’s holding opponents to a meager .172 batting average (35-204) against him...In that time, Tidwell is 2nd in the South Atlantic League and 4th in Minor League Baseball in strikeouts (80)...He is also 2nd in ERA (1.70) and 3rd in batting average against (.172) since that date (min. 55.0 IP)...On the season in the SAL, the Loretto, Tenn. native leads in batting average against (.195), is tied for 2nd in wins (7), 3rd in strikeouts (107), and 4th in ERA (3.29).
