Game Recap and Highlights: Ponies Trounce Hartford in Continuation of Friday’s Contest

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (35-25, 70-59) dominated the Hartford Yard Goats, 10-0, in Friday's suspended contest that finished on Sunday morning at Dunkin' Park. The Ponies won the series 3-2.

The Ponies got off to a fast start in Friday's portion of the game against Hartford (26-35, 55-73) with a four-spot in the first inning, highlighted by an RBI single from JT Schwartz and a three-run homer from Jeremiah Jackson.

Up 4-0 in the third, Binghamton added three more runs on a three-run homer from Rowdey Jordan. It was Jordan's 13th home run of the season.

Dom Hamel shined in his start in Friday's portion of the game. He threw three no-hit innings with five strikeouts, while allowing just one walk.

In Sunday's portion of the game, the Ponies continued where they left on Friday night. In the top of the fourth, Drew Gilbert worked a leadoff walk and Schwartz later followed with a walk. With two outs in the frame, Agustin Ruiz hit an RBI single to make it 8-0 and Jordan followed with an RBI single to make it 9-0.

Jordan Geber relieved Hamel in a big way. Geber (1-0) tossed six scoreless innings with three strikeouts and no walks out of the bullpen. He has tossed 12-straight scoreless innings in his two Double-A outings this season.

In the fifth inning, Kevin Parada hit a two-out RBI double that drove in Rhylan Thomas to make it 10-0. Geber shut the door the rest of the way.

Binghamton will return to Mirabito Stadium for its final homestand of the regular season on Tuesday against the Reading Fightin Phils. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. and pregame coverage will begin at 6:20 p.m. on the WNBF Rumble Ponies Radio Network.

Postgame Notes: Jordan recorded his second four-RBI game of the season…Jackson hit his seventh home run with Binghamton and 22nd at Double-A this season…All nine players in the starting lineup recorded at least one hit…Parada, Schwartz, Ruiz, Jordan, Mateo Gil, and Thomas all recorded multi-hit games. The Ponies out-hit Hartford 15-5.
