According to MLB.com's Anthony DiComo, the New York Mets have signed Major League Veteran, RHP Chris Devenski to a Minor League Deal with an invitation to Spring Training. Devenski will turn 34 on November 13th.  He has spent 9 years in the Majors with Houston, Arizona, Philadelphia, the Angels and in 2024 the Tampa Bay Rays where he split time in AAA and the Majors.  His 2024 record: 2-1, 6.75 ERA, 19 games, 26.2 innings, 9 HRs, 14 walks, 24 Ks.  He has been trying to regain form since his Elbow surgery in 2020.  He will be given a chance to make the team in Spring Training and if not, serve as depth in Syracuse.

Baseball America: Revisiting the 2024 Mets MLB Draft class after the conclusion of the minor league season. They highlight a number of players saying that 6th Round Pick 1B Corey Collins has the best Power, 8th Round Pick RHP Ryan Lambert (100 MPH) has the best fastball and that 1st Round Pick, OF Carson Benge is the Best Pure Hitter.

Tim Britton The Athletic: Examining the Mets’ payroll entering the offseason. Tim lists out all the players signed for next year, all the arbitration eligible players, all the money coming off the books noting "more than $180 million coming off the payroll — or larger than the Opening Day 2024 payrolls for 20 other teams...the Mets must set aside $2 million of salary for player benefits and $20.7 million toward the tax for benefits and the pre-arbitration bonus pool. That brings the Mets’ current likely commitments to next season around $146 million in on-field payroll and $167 million toward the luxury tax. The luxury tax is set at $241 million next season; the draft-pick penalties would kick in at $281 million."

The Mets officially introduced 62 year-old Harvard Law School graduate Sandy Alderson as the team's new general manager at a Citi Field news conference. The former president and GM of the A's and chief executive officer of the Padres is being allowed to leave his current administrative position with MLB to take on the challenging role of rebuilding the directionless organization, which includes the hiring of a new manager for the team.

Other GMs have worked briefly as agents in the past, but none so prominent as Van Wagenen, who heads his own firm, CAA Baseball, and has a number of his clients currently playing in the organization.
