The New York Mets have announced via X/Twitter that they have signed Rafael Ortega to a minor league contract with an invitation to Spring Training.
Rafael split time with Chicago White Sox and their AAA affiliate. In 2023 he played 30 games for the Syracuse Mets and 47 for the NY Mets. In NY he hit 1 HR, 8 RBIs, .219/.341/.272.
According to FanGrahs, he is out of Minor League Options. He will turn 34 next May.
