12/6/24: Mets sign OF Edward Olivares to a minor league deal with Spring Invite (with videos and stats)

 

The New York Mets via X have announced that they have signed OF Edward Olivares to a minor League Deal with an invite to Spring Training.   

Edward split time last year in AAA and the Majors for the Pittsburgh Pirates.  For the Bucs, he hit .224/.291/.333 with 5 HRs and 23 RBIs in 55 games.  He will turn 29 next March.  According to FanGraphs, he is out of MiLB options.  He gives the Mets a player with Major League experience right at AAA should he be needed.  

In the majors, he has seen most of his time in Right or Left Field but has played some in Center as well.  

He is playing mostly Center Filed this Winter in Venezuela - .390/.469/.659 - 1.128 OPS.
