SNY.TV: A Mets-Pete Alonso reunion makes too much sense to not happen. "The simplest way to put this is that Alonso seems as right for the Mets as the Mets do for Alonso. And if you strip away all the outside noise, the Mets-Alonso match becomes too clear to ignore. It makes too much sense for it to not happen. But in order for this to come to fruition, one side will have to blink sooner rather than later."

Will Sammon The Athletic: Mets went wild for Juan Soto: Why a measured approach might come next. "That might mean the Mets prefer homegrown star Pete Alonso to return on a shorter deal rather than conceding entirely if Alonso’s desired figures run on the long end. That might mean a reluctance to go five years, possibly even four years, for Sean Manaea, a pitcher they’d like to re-sign. And it might mean wanting Walker Buehler, someone who’d fit in well with them, for something like a one-year deal with an option rather than a straight multiyear pact." (Subscription required)

12/16/24 Roster Moves: Mets Sign Utility Player Jared Young (With Stats and Videos) "Young, who will turn 30 next July, split last year between AAA and Korea.  11 Homers, 35 RBIs, .285/.411/.506 - .917 OPS in 74 AAA games; 10 Homers, 39 RBIs, .326/.420/.660 - 1.040 OPS in 38 games in Korea. He saw limited MLB time (22 games) in 2022 and 2023 with the Cubs."

Anthony DiComo MLB.com: "Mostly a lefty-hitting first baseman and corner outfielder, Young boasts professional experience at six positions, including significant work at second and third base."

PRESS RELEASE: MARC LEVINE TO BE INDUCTED INTO NEW YORK STATE BASEBALL HALL OF FAME "The New York State Baseball Hall of Fame announced today that Mets Team Photographer Marc Levine will be posthumously inducted into the 2025 class...The New York State Baseball Hall of Fame will host the 2025 induction ceremony on November 9 in Troy, NY."
