Report: Mets Sign RHP Frankie Montas to 2 year deal "According to Jeff Passan on X, the New York Mets have signed Right Handed Pitcher Frankie Montas to a two year, $34 Million contract.  Montas, who will turn 32 in March, threw 150.2 innings in 30 starts for the Reds and the Brewers with a 7-11 record, 4.84 ERA, 140 hits, 66 walks, 148 Ks. 1.387 WHIP."

NY Post:  Frankie Montas signing with Mets on two-year, $34 million contract in MLB free agency. "The season represented a step forward for a righty who pitched in one game in 2023, when his season with the Yankees was nearly completely wiped out after right shoulder surgery."

Newsday: "Although he once was a top prospect and had a couple of very good years with the Athletics, the most recent version of Montas is more of a Quintana type — a stabilizing presence and back-of-the-rotation innings-eater."

Mets COO Jeff Wilpon says the team's new ballpark's name will remain Citi Field regardless of the suggestion made by two NYC council members who believe the venue should be called Citi/Taxpayer Field. Citigroup, a struggling financial institution benefiting from a bailout from the federal government, pays the franchise $400 million over 20 years for naming rights to the stadium.
