12/2/24: Mets Roster Moves - Mets Resign Grant Hartwig and Alex Ramirez "According to Will Sammon of The Athletic on X, the New York Mets announced they have resigned RHP Grant Hartwig and outfielder Alex Ramirez to minor league contracts. The Mets recently non-tendered Alex Ramirez and Grant Hartwig on November 22 to free up spots on the 40-Man Roster."

Joel Sherman NY Post: MLB teams interested in Clay Holmes as a starter — including the Mets. "Holmes has not started since 2018, his debut season with the Pirates. But he was a starter throughout his minor league tenure. Teams are more aggressively looking at relievers returning to the rotation due to recent success in that area. Kansas City’s Seth Lugo just finished third for the AL Cy Young."

Will Sammon The Athletic. Mets notes: What to look for next in the pitching search plus Frankie Montas’ bonus."After they agreed with right-handed starter Frankie Montas on a two-year contract Sunday night, it would not at all be surprising to see the New York Mets continue to explore short-term deals for their rotation...Like many others, they have some interest in Walker Buehler. They’re also one of the teams that have talked with Michael Soroka about competing in spring training for a starter job. Other names to keep in mind in the future include starters such as Griffin Canning and Patrick Sandoval...There are more. And other potential paths exist in the trade market." National Pastime.com:

1969

The Mets, in one of the worst trades in franchise history, deal outfielder Amos Otis to the Royals for third baseman Joe Foy. The 22 year-old flycatcher will go on to have an outstanding 14-year career with Kansas City and will become a member of the team's hall of fame, while Foy will play just one season in New York, hitting a meager .236 in 99 games.

1974

In a six-player deal, the Mets trade reliever Tug McGraw to the Phillies along with outfielders Don Hahn and Dave Schneck in exchange for outfielder Del Unser, pitcher Mac Scarce, and catcher John Stearns. The 'Ya Gotta Believe' closer will quickly become a fan-favorite in Philadelphia, helping the team in 1980 to win their first world championship in the 97-year history of the franchise.

2018

The Mariners deal All-star second baseman Robinson Cano, Edwin Diaz, last season's major league leader in saves, and cash to the Mets for Gerson Bautista, Jay Bruce, Justin Dunn, Anthony Swarzak and minor leaguer Jarred Kelenic. The trade doesn't fix New York's need to bolster their flailing bullpen when their new closer loses his role, finishing the season with 26 saves and seven blown opportunities.
