Tim Healey Newsday Mets lose Luis Severino to Athletics on three-year, $67 million deal, source says. "...stunning three-year, $67 million deal with the Athletics, a source confirmed Thursday. His is the largest contract in that franchise’s history...The Mets stayed in touch with Severino in recent weeks and a reunion remained possible, according to a person familiar with their activity, but they never pursued him aggressively."
NY Post: Red Sox want another Juan Soto, Scott Boras meeting as possible Steve Cohen threat looms. "While the Red Sox have increased their offer to at least $600 million, they have interest in another meeting with Soto and agent Scott Boras so they can hit land on a number that can get the outfielder to sign in Boston, according to the Boston Globe. This desire to have another meeting, according to the outlet’s Thursday reporting, comes from the fact that Boston has heard rumors that Mets owner Steve Cohen could offer to go $50 million above other teams, though it’s not clear if Cohen will actually do this."
"Steve Cohen should sent Boras and Soto his final offer and tell him to take it or leave it. No more posturing, I don't want to hear it! Make your best offer with a deadline. Then you come out looking like the king"
