NY Post: David Wright hopes Pete Alonso stays with Mets for life. ‘It’s a different feeling’. “I know it’s a different feeling when you’re drafted, developed and playing for the team that gave you your first opportunity,’’ Wright said during a Zoom call Wednesday. “There’s a little — maybe a lot — more pride when you put that jersey on. I hope he remembers that and doesn’t lose sight of that. With that being said, I’ve never, ever faulted a player for maximizing his earning potential and going to try to make a great living for him and his family. I can’t fault him for that.”
NY Post: David Wright loves everything about Mets’ ‘win at all costs’ approach under Steve Cohen. “I think it’s huge,’’ Wright said of the team’s ability to land the biggest free agent in the game. “It seems like the will to win within the organization is incredible. It’s a ‘Win at all costs, do whatever you can to win-type mentality.’ That’s something I love, that’s something the city loves, that’s something the fan base certainly loves.”
Laura Albanese Newsday: David Wright 'incredibly grateful for the honor' of Mets retiring his No. 5. "In the clubhouse, he led by example, said former teammate Daniel Murphy. He worked harder than anyone on the team, spoke when he needed to, and bore the slings and arrows of many a mediocre Mets season so no one else had to."
Mets have made a number of minor league roster moves:

Carlos Beltran (.267, 38, 104) becomes the tenth $100-million
player in major league history when the 27-year-old native of Puerto Rico
agrees to a seven-year deal for $119 million with the Mets. The five-tool
outfielder, who had his market value increase with his postseason performance
with the Astros, goes to New York after Houston refuses to include a no-trade
clause in their very generous offer to keep him on the club. |
