Classy move: Luis Rojas took a moment at the end of his postgame press conference to send well wishes to Yankees manager Aaron Boone, who is taking a medical leave of absence to receive a pacemaker.

"I believe it probably had something to do with it," longtime Phillies pitcher Jerad Eickhoff said when asked if his 2.41 ERA in 56 career innings against the Mets sparked their interest in signing him this winter. pic.twitter.com/o4xRb8WgXZ

Mets reliever Jacob Barnes touched 95 mph in his first Grapefruit League appearance today, but he was wild and ineffective, walking two batters, hitting another, and allowing three runs on three hits.

Barnes recorded only two outs before the inning ended due to his pitch count.

No more Altherrs, Broxtons or Hamiltons. Or Bautistas, Kaczmarskis, Aokis or Taijerons. For the first time in a long time, the Mets just spent a lot of money on outfield bench depth.

Anthony DiComo Mets.com: ”Dominic Smith is tentatively scheduled to make his Grapefruit League debut on Thursday, after missing the Mets’ first three games because they wanted to avoid overtaxing him early in camp”.
The
Brooklyn Trolley Blogger: Will The Real Edwin Diaz Please Step Up. “Last
season's performance was clearly an improvement, to say the least…I harken back
to David Cone's
days with the Mets. Many times over,
again and again, his sidearm and three-quarter delivery, like Diaz,
would render many well-intentioned sliders into frisbees with Smash Me written
all over it. If last year is an indication, maybe Diaz and pitching coach
Jeremy Hefner actually have this under control.
Or, so we hope.”
