The Mets have
played 43 games on April 10th in their history for a 19-24 record. This includes some interesting extra inning games, a wasted Jake gem, and Tommie Agee’s historic HR
in 1969.
- "Mets: Earned their first shutout of the season and their first against the Padres since June 5, 2021 in San Diego.
- Max Scherzer (5.0 IP, H, 3 BB, 6 K): Was his 10th career start of 5.0 or more innings and one or no hits allowed, third as a Met...Allowed one hit over 7.0 innings on April 19, 2022 vs. San Francisco and threw 6.0 perfect innings at Milwaukee on September 19, 2022 in his first start after being activated from the Injured List.
- Francisco Lindor (1-3, 2B, 2 RBI, R): Padded the Mets lead with a two-run double in the seventh snapping an 0-8 hitless streak...Has six hits, three doubles, six RBI and five runs over his last five games.
- Jeff McNeil (1-4, 2B, 2 RBI): Put the Mets on the board with a two-run double in the third...Has doubled in a career-high-tying three straight games (Last: July 25 - July 27, 2021)."
Brian Joura Mets360: "In his third start this season, Scherzer had his best outing, going five scoreless innings, and giving up only one hit. Big bounce back from his last start in Milwaukee when he gave up six runs, including four home runs."
Brian Heyman Newsday: Max Scherzer, Mets' bullpen shut out Padres. "Scherzer (2-1) went to eight full counts and threw 97 pitches in five innings. Yet he made timely pitches, walking three, striking out six and allowing no runs and one hit. John Curtiss, Drew Smith, David Robertson and Adam Ottavino finished off a combined two-hitter."
Metstradamus: Mildly Irritated Max. "Offensively, the Mets took care of business against Yu Darvish for the first time in … well, ever. He was 6-0 lifetime against the Mets...But Jeff McNeil got a big hit in the third with two runners on to give the Mets a 2-0 lead and allow them to breathe a little easier facing this guy."
Anthony DiComo Mets.com: Chalk it up to magic: 2 Mets infield hits defy gravity, logic. "In the span of three batters, Guillorme and Nido laid balls perfectly down the third-base line, leaving them in places where San Diego fielders could only watch and hope they might roll foul. Neither did. And when Francisco Lindor cleaned up the bases with a two-run double, it allowed the Mets to cruise to a 5-0 win over the Padres."

Tim Healey Newsday: "The Nationals won, 4-2, after rallying for three runs in the eighth inning against lefthander Chasen Shreve and righthander Trevor Williams, the last members of the Mets’ Opening Day roster to appear in a game...Nelson Cruz had the go-ahead two-run single with two outs in the bottom of the eighth. The Mets suffered their first loss of the season, missing their chance for a four-game sweep."
NY Post: Bullpen, Pete Alonso error cost Mets in loss to Nationals. "The Mets first baseman’s throw on a grounder pulled Francisco Lindor off second base and helped extend the inning for the Nationals, allowing them to score the go-ahead runs...Alonso’s underhand throw to the plate on Lucius Fox’s safety squeeze earlier in the inning. Dee Strange-Gordon beat that throw for the tying run."
Brian Joura Mets360: "Carrasco was terrific in the game. While he allowed the first-inning run, he finished by retiring the last 15 batters he faced. He had a good fastball but ended up throwing twice as many off-speed pitches, which allowed him to keep batters off balance all game long."
Metstradamus: "The good news is that despite the lack of runs, the Mets are taking much better at-bats so far this season than they did last season. Last season’s constant was that the team was swinging at balls and watching hittable strikes go by. It isn’t like that this time around."

SNY.TV: "The Mets squandered an opportunity right away after they opened the game with runners on 1st and 3rd with nobody out but did not score. Brandon Nimmo doubled and Francisco Lindor reached on an error, but after Lindor was caught stealing, Michael Conforto and Pete Alonso both struck out to end the inning."
Mets.com: For an encore on Saturday, deGrom matched his career high with 14 strikeouts at Citi Field, limiting the Marlins to one run in eight innings. It wasn’t enough. The Mets recorded just three hits all afternoon in a 3-0 loss to the Marlins, sticking deGrom with an 0-1 record despite his 0.64 ERA through two starts.
Newsday: “Among the creatively cruel, mind-bending ways for Jacob deGrom to lose a game — and we all know there have been dozens of these during his tortured Mets career — Saturday’s defeat was especially aggravating…That’s because the Marlins’ Jazz Chisholm Jr., a very talented rookie playing in his 28th game, somehow caught up to an 0-and-2 fastball traveling at 100.4 mph. It wasn’t even a strike.”
Despite the loss, Jake was awesome today:
