Year: 2023; Game # 20; Thursday, Apr 20; NYM 9 @ SFG;4; boxscore;; WP: Senga;; LP: Manaea;; Time: 2:34;N; Attendance: 24,452; Record: 13-7; Standings: 2; Games up/behind: 1.5; W
Brandon Nimmo CF 3 for 5, double, 1 RBI, 1 K; Francisco Lindor SS 1 for 4, double, 2 runs scored, 1 K; Pete Alonso 1B 2 for 4, HR(9), 4 RBIs, 2 runs scored, 1 walk; Jeff McNeil RF 3 for 3, HR(1), 2 RBIs, 2 runs scored, 1 walk; Eduardo Escobar 3B 2 for 5, HR(2), 2 RBIs, 1 run scored, 1 K; Kodai Senga (W,3-0) 5 innings, 4 runs - all earned, 5 hits, 2 HRs, 4 walks, 4 Ks;
Brian Joura Mets360: "Pete Alonso was one of three Mets to homer, pacing a 13-hit attack, as the Mets opened up their four-game series against the Giants with a 9-4 win Thursday night in San Francisco."
SNY.TV: Kodai Senga working to adjust, give Mets longer outings following win vs. Giants."'I was hoping to get deeper into the game'. In the series opener against the Giants. Senga went five innings, which is respectable and good enough to pick up the win and improve to 3-0 in the season, but he was in line to go much further. Entering the fifth inning, Senga only threw 55 pitches. And with the Mets up 5-0, Senga was in full control."

Year: 2022; Game#13; Wednesday Apr 20, NYM 2 Vs. ;SFG; 5; boxscore; WP: Rodón; LP: Bassitt; Save: McGee; Time: 3:20; NIGHT; Attendance: 30,050; Record: 9-4; Standings: 1; Games up/behind: up 3.5; L;
Brandon Nimmo 2 for 4, 1 walk, 1 K; Pete Alonso 3 for 4, 1 run scored, 1 K; Eduardo Escobar 2 for 3, double, 1 walk, 1 K; Mark Canha 1 for 4, RBI, 1 K; Chris Bassitt; (L, 2-1) 6 innings, 5 runs - all earned, 8 hits, 1 HR, 1 walk, 6 Ks;
Brian Joura Mets360: "Chris Bassitt started and gave up three runs before the Mets came to bat. He’d give up two more, including a solo homer in the upper deck to Brandon Belt. Meanwhile, the Mets had little luck against Carlos Rodon, despite Rodon being unable to get his breaking balls over for strikes. A high pitch count led to Rodon leaving after just five innings."
Metstradamus: The One Where Wilmer Flores Beats Us With His Defense. "That happened in the 8th inning with Dom Smith at the plate as the tying run as the Mets crept to within 5-2 after scratching out runs on a Starling Marte single in the 7th and a Mark Canha single in the 8th off a struggling Taylor Rogers...Smith hit a seed that was labeled for the outfield that instead landed in Flores’ glove and that was that."
Year: 2021; Game#13; Tuesday Apr 20 NYM 1 @ ;CHC; 3; boxscore; WP: Arrieta; LP: Walker; Save: Kimbrel; Time: 3:32; NIGHT; Attendance: 10,137; Record: 8-5; Standings: 1; Games up/behind: up 2.0; L;
Dominic Smith LF 2 for 4; J.D. Davis 3B 2 for 3 HR, 1 walk, 1 K; Taijuan Walker (L, 0-1) 3.2 innings, 2 hits, 3 runs – 2 earned, 6 walks, 7 Ks;
Deesha Thosar NY Post: “A sleepy offense, a costly defensive error and a couple of ejections sunk the Mets’ ship in their series opener at Wrigley Field. But mostly, they just looked off...Only three Mets collected hits against Jake Arrieta... Among them was J.D. Davis, who scored the Amazin’s only run on a homer...But he also committed two throwing errors at third base, the first of which hurt his team”.
Mike Puma NY Post: “Thirty-six degrees at first pitch was a heat wave compared to the icicles that formed on the Mets’ bats Tuesday night…. Taijuan Walker and manager Luis Rojas were both tossed for complaining about plate umpire John Libka’s strike zone. Walker’s ejection occurred after he had been pulled from the game. Rojas’ heave-ho, which came later, was the first of his major league managerial career.”
Brian Joura Mets360: “The Mets loaded the bases in the ninth inning but could not complete the comeback…Two walks surrounding an out brought Luis Guillorme up as a pinch-hitter and he promptly singled to load the bases…But Brandon Nimmo struck out for the third time and Francisco Lindor hit a weak groundout to end the game”.
Year: 2019; Game #20; Saturday; Apr 20, NYM 2 @ STL 10; boxscore; WP: Mikolas; LP: Flexen; Time: 02:45; DAY; Attendance: 47,059; Record: 11-9; Standings: 2; Games up/behind: 1; L;
Cards jumped on Chris Flexen (L,0-1) for 6 runs on 7 hits in 4.1 innings. Down 9-0 in the 7th, Mets pushed in two runs but otherwise did not have much luck against Miles Mikolas (W,2-1) who held the Mets to 4 hits.
Year: 2018; Game #19; Friday; Apr 20, NYM 5 @ ATL; 3; boxscore; 12 innings; WP: Gsellman; LP: Ravin; Save: Familia; Time: 03:51; NIGHT; Attendance: 39,016; Record: 14-5; Standings: 1; Games up/behind: up 2.0; W;
Mike Puma NY Post: Cespedes' clutch hit, Gsellman's heroics propel Mets to win in 12. "After pitching the 10th and 11th, [Gsellman] remained in the game to bat, leading off the 12th, and was told to expect another two or three innings of work if the game kept going...Gsellman got hit by a pitch, scored the go-ahead run and received the win in the Mets’ 5-3 victory over the Braves at SunTrust Park. Yoenis Cespedes’ RBI single brought in Gsellman before Asdrubal Cabrera’s double gave the Mets a cushion."

National Pastime.com: Appearing as a pinch hitter at Petco Park, Julio Franco becomes the oldest major leaguer to hit a home run. The 47 years, 240 days old's eighth-inning blast, which put the Mets ahead in their 7-2 victory over the Padres, surpasses Jack Quinn, who accomplished the feat as a pitcher for the Philadelphia A's at the age of 46 years, 357 days.
At Petco Park in his first at-bat of the season, Kaz Matsui hits an inside-the-park round-tripper, making it the third successive season in which the Mets second baseman has hit a home run in his initial plate appearance of the year. Ken Griffey Jr. also accomplished the feat starting in 1997 with the Mariners but had walked before going deep.

The only difference between Friday night’s defeat and yesterday’s 7-5 loss to the Expos was the lack of a sunflower seed controversy to distract from another dismal performance."
