Anthony Rieber Newsday: Mets blow four-run lead but come back to defeat Nationals. "After two days of offensive futility, the Mets got hits of every shape and size. Brett Baty homered as part of his first three-hit game and Lindor drove in three runs...[Francisco] Alvarez left the game after eight innings. He was hit in the left side of the helmet with a back swing in the fifth. Showalter said 'everything checked out fine' and the club would see how Alvarez feels on Friday. "
New York Post: Tommy Hunter and Brooks Raley combined to hit three batters in the eighth inning, when the Nationals scored five runs thanks to the series of pitching misses, Francisco Lindor booting a grounder and CJ Abrams crushing a grand slam. Suddenly, a 7-3 Mets lead was an 8-7 deficit.
Brian Joura Mets360: "Trailing 8-7 in the eighth inning, Starling Marte started the winning rally with a single. He proceeded to steal second base and went to third on a long fly out by Francisco Lindor. Pete Alonso, who his previous time up snapped his 0-19 streak, smacked an RBI double to tie the game. Next up was Jeff McNeil, who pulled a ball that hit high up the wall in right field, which ended up being an RBI triple."

A one sided loss that will be remembered for a brawl.
Brian Joura Mets360: After a terrific outing against the Giants last time out, Carlos Carrasco turned in a 2021-vintage performance for him, squandering a 4-1 lead and giving up 8 R in 3.2 IP, as the Mets lost the final game of the series to the Cardinals, 10-5 in St. Louis Wednesday afternoon.
NY Post: Mets-Cardinals brawl erupts after Nolan Arenado loses it as plunking tensions explode. "The Mets have clearly had enough of getting plunked by opposing pitchers, and tensions boiled over Wednesday afternoon. After yet another Mets hitter got hit by a pitch — J.D. Davis left the game in the eighth inning after being hit in the left ankle — a brawl broke out between the Mets and Cardinals in St. Louis when Mets reliever Yoan Lopez retaliated by throwing high and inside at Nolan Arenado."

NY Post: Garrett Richards arrived at Citi Field on Tuesday with 13 walks, 12 strikeouts and a 6.48 ERA through his first four starts for the Red Sox this season. The Mets welcomed him with a parade of whiffs.
Mets360: “David Peterson gave a strong effort, a nice bounce back from his last outing, but it wasn’t enough, as he allowed 2 ER in 6 IP. The Mets got three scoreless innings from their pen, including one by Jeurys Familia that included two bullets hit by the Sox, making up for some of those cheap hits he gave up earlier.” (Subscription required).
David Lennon Newsday: “The Mets’ only hit with a runner in scoring position (1-for-3) failed to get Michael Conforto in from second base but actually raised their average in those situations to .193, which is still dead-last in the majors. Jeff McNeil was responsible for the Mets’ lone run, blasting a first-pitch fastball into the rightfield seats in the second inning, but he also whiffed to strand two in the fourth.”

Dillon Gee (W,2-1) with 8 scoreless innings, 3 hits, 4 walks and 6 Ks, David Wright and Lucas Duda with RBI doubles and Chris Young with a 2 run homer provide the run support.
NY Post: Gee’s gem leads Mets over Marlins, 4-0. "Gee pitched the Mets to a 4-0 victory over Miami, putting on a masterful pitching clinic in front of 28,861 fans at Citi Field — and a lineup of befuddled Marlins. He moved the ball in and out, side to side and sent the Mets on their nine-game road trip having won six of their last eight games."
Brian Joura Mets360: "Dillon Gee was masterful Sunday afternoon against the Marlins. He became the first Mets pitcher in 2014 to complete eight innings as he hurled eight scoreless frames in the team’s 4-0 win. With the outing, Gee lowered his ERA for the year to 2.88 and in six games this season, he’s hurled four quality starts."

NY Post: Phillies rough up Marcum, Carson as Mets lose third straight, 9-4. "The Mets’ lineup has been slumping for a week, Saturday’s starter Shaun Marcum struggled in his debut and reliever Robert Carson was worse. By the time it was over, the Mets suffered a 9-4 beating at the hands of the Phillies and were mired in their first three-game skid of the year...Marcum (0-1) lasted just four innings in his injury-delayed Mets debut, giving up three earned runs and Carson coughed up five more — including back-to-back homers — in his only inning and was booed lustily by the 29,248 at Citi Field, who saw the Mets fall two games under .500 for the first time this season."
