NY Post: Mets can’t replicate late-inning magic in Game 1 loss to Phillies. "In their first action since Thursday’s dramatic win in which they overcame a six-run deficit in the ninth, late-inning magic never arrived in a 3-2 loss at Citizens Bank Park...The Mets (19-10) went 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position, most notably missing an opportunity in the seventh after receiving walks from Alonso and Eduardo Escobar to begin the inning against Jose Alvarado. The lefty Alvarado struck out the next three batters: Dominic Smith, Starling Marte and Luis Guillorme.
Brian Joura Mets360: "In the opener, Max Scherzer (L,4-1) gave up a couple of loud hits to Bryce Harper and a bunch of bloops and bleeders to the rest of the Phillies’ lineup which allowed Philadelphia to race out to a 3-0 lead. The Mets battled back for two runs in the sixth inning. But they did not hit the ball out of the infield over the final three frames, a fact that really hurt given that they got the first two batters on in the seventh thanks to walks."
