HARTFORD, CT – The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (1-3, 29-44) fell 8-3 to the Hartford Yard Goats (3-1, 46-27) on Friday night at Dunkin' Donuts Park. Hartford pushed six runs across in the fifth and scored eight unanswered runs.
Brett Baty got the Ponies on the board first for the third consecutive night with a towering three-run shot to right centerfield, his ninth of the season, to put the Ponies ahead 3-0.
Hartford knifed into the lead with a two-run home run by Brenton Doyle off Ponies starter Alec Kisena (2-6), his second homer in as many nights, making it a 3-2 game in the fourth. It was Doyle's ninth of the season as well.
The Yard Goats then exploded for six runs in the fifth highlighted by a monster three-run blast from Jimmy Herron which gave Hartford a 6-3 lead after Hunter Stovall tied the game with an RBI double.
Hartford starter Nick Bush (6-5) pitched six innings giving up four hits and two earned runs while walking one and striking out five.
Jordan Yamamoto pitched three scoreless innings of relief surrendering a hit and striking out three.
The Rumble Ponies will continue their series against Hartford on Saturday evening. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 PM with pregame coverage beginning at 5:50 PM on NewsRadio 1290 WNBF and 92.1 FM.
POSTGAME NOTES: Baty now has two home runs in the series… Carlos Cortes has five hits in the series… Eight of the 11 total runs scored in the game were courtesy of home runs.
