With the game tied at nine entering extra innings and the designated runner on second, Brett Baty walked, setting up runners on first and second. The Rumble Ponies (8-19, 36-60) were trailing 8-4 after six innings. In the seventh, they cut into the deficit on a wild pitch that scored Mauricio from third and a Nick Meyer RBI single that cut the Somerset (16-11, 60-36) lead to two.

Down 8-6 in the ninth, Mauricio led off the inning with a double to center. Two batters later, Johneshwy Fargas drove him home with an RBI single to left to make it 8-7. Luke Ritter then drilled an RBI double down the left field line that scored Fargas from first. Later in the inning, Wyatt Young hit an RBI single to center to put Binghamton up 9-8.

Somerset would tie the game at nine in the bottom of the ninth on a two-out RBI single from Blake Perkins. Perkins would finish 3-5 with a pair of two-run home runs and five RBI. Dedniel Núñez (1-0) pitched a scoreless tenth to seal the victory.
