This morning at 11:30 the Mets and Billy Eppler will hold a Zoom Press Conference with the team’s newest editions including David Robertson, José Quintana and Brooks Raley. The Brandon Nimmo Press Conference is scheduled for tomorrow at 10 AM at Citi Field.
Yesterday the Mets held their Holiday Shopping Spree at the Queens Boulevard Target in Elmhurst. Carlos Carrasco and Daniel Vogelbach helped the children shop. The Mets invited 20 children from Win (Women in Need), the largest provider of shelter and supportive services for families experiencing homelessness in NYC, to participate in the shopping spree.
After the event, Carrasco and Vogelbach spoke to the Media. SNY.TV posted video on YouTube.
"It's the best clubhouse that I walked in to and I don't think it was really close."

NY Post: Carlos Correa signs with Giants after drawing Mets free agency interest. "The All-Star shortstop agreed to a 13-year deal worth $350 million with the Giants, a source confirmed to The Post’s Jon Heyman, ending the Mets’ late inquiry into potentially pairing the 28-year-old Correa with Francisco Lindor on the left side of the infield. Correa presumably would have shifted to third base."
The reason Correa didn’t fit Steve Cohen’s spending spree was the need for a long-term contract. Mets went long with Nimmo because they had to in order to lock up a favorite. But overall the plan is shorter-term pricey veterans to bide time for player development to improve.

Correa to Giants for 13/$350 mil according to @JeffPassan. Every agent's new negotiating tactic: mention that Steve Cohen is making a late bid and, boom, team in question closes the deal.

Noah Syndergaard market moving now. Four teams in heavy. Starters are obviously thriving based on low supply. Still on market: Rodon, Eovaldi, Syndergaard, Wacha, Greinke, Smyly, R. Hill. Z. Davies, Kluber, Pineda, Lyles, Minor, Lugo, Lorenzen.

'Ol' One-Dog,' who led the American League in hits last season with 186 playing with the White Sox, will repeat the feat his first season in the Senior Circuit with 227 hits. |
2001 | The A's, needing to fill the void of a left-handed power hitter created by Jason Giambi's departure to the Yankees, trade southpaw reliever Mark Guthrie and minor league right-hander Tyler Yates to the Mets for David Justice. The Mets had acquired the designated hitter-outfielder a week ago in a deal which sent third baseman Robin Ventura to the Yankees. |
2007 | The Rangers invite Edgardo Alfonzo, a career .284 hitter, to spring training. The 34 year-old former All-Star infielder, who played with the Mets, Giants, Angels, and Blue Jays, spent last season in the independent Atlantic League playing with the Long Island Ducks. |

The 40 year-old All-Star right-handed starter, who is slated to replace the innings the team will need as Matt Harvey recovers from Tommy John surgery, compiled an 18-6 record with a 2.65 ERA in 30 starts for the A's last season. |
