Mets agree to deal with Catcher Omar Narvaez (reports).

NY Post: Mets add former All-Star catcher Omar Narvaez to free agency haul. Omar Narvaez, an All-Star catcher in 2021, agreed to a one-year, $8 million deal with the Mets that includes a $7 million player option for 2024..."

Tim Healey Newsday: Mets add Omar Narvaez to crowded catching position, source says. "His .206/.292/.305 slash line last season was better than McCann’s and about as good as Nido’s — except that Narvaez was better against righties, Nido against lefties."

Metstradamus: Collecting Catchers. I don’t know which saying is more apt here. Is it “you can’t have too much of a good thing?” Or is it “If you have nine catchers, you really have none?” The Mets signing of Omar Narvaez is probably somewhere in the middle.

Earlier in the day the Mets held a press conference to announce the Brandon Nimmo signing.

12/15/22 Roster Moves - Mets sign Jose Peraza to Minor League Contract, assigned to Syracuse. "Jose split time with the Yankees and Red Sox AAA teams last year going .236/.290/.354.  In 2021 he became a Mets fan favorite as he hit 6 HRs with 20 RBIs in 142 at-bats with a .204/.266/.380 slash line"
