NY Post: Carlos Correa issue could ‘creep up’ toward end of Mets deal: medical expert. The issue believed to be holding up the deal between Carlos Correa and the Mets is unlikely to be a concern for the first half of his contract. It’s the back half of Correa’s agreed-upon 12-year, $315 million deal with the Mets where an old ankle injury could potentially become a factor, according to a medical expert.
While the news on Carlos Correa is overall still quiet, there were some inciteful and humorous tweets about the situation yesterday:
That comes with no guarantee -- my point just is that the passing of time does not in itself indicate anything sinister. This is a complicated issue with lots of medical and legal threads to unwind. Let the process play out as it will.

NY Post Sports+: Kodai Senga’s fearless quest to rise from afterthought in Japan to Mets’ next big thing. The article talks about how hard Senga worked from the time he was an unheralded draftee to a Star in Japan. Including this: "The Fukuoka Softbank Hawks ace voiced his desire to join MLB years ago, but every meeting with ownership and management ended with rejection. He pitched for the only team in Nippon Professional Baseball that has never made its players available to MLB franchises via the posting system." (Subscription required)

Texas Rangers signed Kenny Rogers of the New York Mets as a free agent on December 29, 1999.
2009 | The Mets and Jason Bay, a former farmhand, agree to a four-year deal worth approximately $66 million that includes a vesting option for a fifth year for an additional $14 million. The 31 year-old outfielder joined the organization as a minor leaguer in 2002 when Omar Minaya, then the general manager of the Expos, traded the Class A pull hitter to New York, who shipped him four months later to San Diego as part of an undistinguished deal. |
