Mets Announce Matt Allan update - underwent UCL revision surgery in January

The New York Mets today released the following update on Minor League RHP Matt Allan:  "He underwent UCL revision surgery in January. Dr. Keith Meister performed the procedure in Arlington, TX."

Drafted in 2019, Matt pitched 6 regular season games for a 1-0, 2.61 ERA, 10 innings, 10 hits, 3 Earned Runs, 14 K’s, 5 Walks.  In the playoffs for Brooklyn he threw 5 perfect innings in two different outings with 3 Ks.

After missing the 2000 season due to the COVID cancellation of all Minor League games, Matt underwent Tommy John Surgery in May of 2021 and then in January 2022 had surgery for ulnar transposition (per Mike Puma on Twitter).

Anthony DiComo Mets.com: "The operation is in effect a second Tommy John procedure with a similar recovery timetable. That means Allan will miss all of the 2023 season, and perhaps some of 2024 as well. Tommy John operations typically require a 12- to 18-month recovery."

MLB.com: "Josh Rogers of the Orioles underwent UCL revision surgery in 2019. Dr. Keith Meister [also] performed the operation -- essentially a second Tommy John surgery. It typically requires a 12- to 18-month recovery." [Thanks to Brian Joura of Mets360.com for the Josh Rogers information.]

Per his Baseball Register Page, Josh Rogers did not pitch again until 2021 (though the Covid Cancellation of Minor games played a part in that).

Last Spring Matt talked about the 2nd Operation and how good he felt on the SNY YouTube Channel.
