LHP JOSÉ QUINTANA: Will make his first start of spring training today…Is the only pitcher in the majors who has made at least 30 starts in eight different seasons since 2013...Split the 2022 season between Pittsburgh and St. Louis... Finished eighth in the NL with a career-best 2.93 ERA ...Did not allow a home run over his final 61.2 innings, the longest active streak in the majors... Went 4-2 with a 1.67 ERA (14 ER/75.1 IP) over his final 14 starts of the season and allowed two earned runs or fewer in each of those outings... Had a 0.89 ERA (three ER/30.1 IP) during the month of September, lowest among qualifiers in MLB...Across 11 major league seasons with six different clubs, Quintana has gone 89-87 and owns a career 3.75 ERA (718 ER/1723.2 IP) with 1532 strikeouts...Was selected as an All-Star in 2016 while with Chicago-AL...Will pitch for team Colombia in the World Baseball Classic for the second straight tournament... In his only start (March 10, 2017 vs. United States at Marlins Park),

VS. HOUSTON: The Mets will play their second of six Grapefruit League games against the Astros today...The Mets fell, 4-2, against the Astros on February 25 in their Grapefruit League opener in West Palm Beach. Last season, the Mets were swept by the eventual World Series champs in a pair of two-game series, June 21-22 at Houston and June 28-29 in New York...This season, the Mets take on the Astros in a three-game series from June 19-21 at Minute Maid Park.

YESTERDAY: The Mets fell to the Cardinal, 12-7, in Jupiter...LHP David Peterson threw 2.0 hitless innings with one walk and three strikeouts...SS Luis Guillorme went 2-3 with an RBI single in the second and an RBI double in the fourth...SS Ronny Mauricio belted a two-run homer in the ninth, his second in as many games.

EVERYTHING’S PAWFECT: Today, K9s for Warriors, The Alonso Foundation and the New York Mets will welcome Bear, a black Labrador Retriever, to Clover Park...Alonso, his wife, Haley, and Bear will be on the field today during batting practice...K9s for Warriors is training Bear to become a service dog for a veteran in need...Earlier this spring, the Amazin’ Mets Foundation and America’s Vet Dogs hosted Shea, the Mets Labrador Retriever service dog in training.
