MANCHESTER, NH – The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (16-20) fell to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 6-0 on Friday night at Delta Dental Stadium. The two teams have now split the first four games of the series.
New Hampshire (19-17) got on the board in the bottom of the first as Damiano Palmegiani homered to left against Jose Chacin (0-2). In the second, Trevor Schweke led off with a solo homer to left to make it 2-0. Chacin allowed only those two runs on three hits over four innings with three walks and four strikeouts.
In the sixth, Sebastian Espino hit a two-run single to right to double the Fisher Cats lead to 4-0. In the seventh, Palmegiani added a two-run single to center that made it 6-0. Palmegiani finished 2-3 with three RBI and a walk.
New Hampshire starter Chad Dallas (1-0), making his Double-A debut, allowed just two hits over seven innings with two walks and nine strikeouts. Troy Watson and Jimmy Burnette pitched the eighth and ninth to complete the two-hit shutout.
Matt Rudick drove a single up the middle to begin the game, extending his hitting streak to seven games.
The Rumble Ponies continue their series against the Fisher Cats on Saturday night. First pitch is at 6:35 PM and the NYCM Insurance pregame show gets underway at 6:20 PM on the WNBF Rumble Ponies Radio Network.
Postgame Notes: New York Mets RHP Jimmy Yacabonis made his second rehab appearance this week with Binghamton…Brandon McIlwain had the Ponies second hit, a single in the seventh.
