Game Recap: Ponies Shutout by Patriots Thursday Night

BRIDGEWATER, NJ – The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (11-11) fell to the Somerset Patriots 10-0 on Thursday night at TD Bank Ballpark. Somerset scored six runs in the fifth inning and four runs in the sixth to account for the game’s scoring.

In the fifth, Somerset took a 1-0 lead against Junior Santos (0-3) on an RBI single from Jasson Domínguez. They would then load the bases with one out and T.J. Rumfield would hit an opposite field grand slam over the left field wall to make it a 5-0 game. It was Rumfield’s fourth home run of the season. In the sixth, Jeisson Rosario’s RBI single put Somerset up 7-0.

Domínguez, Trey Sweeney, and Brandon Lockridge would all finish with multi-hit games for Somerset (14-9).

Will Warren (2-0) allowed just four hits over six innings with one walk and eight strikeouts. He combined with three Patriots relievers for the five-hit shutout.

Somerset has taken two of the first three games in the series. The Rumble Ponies continue the Double-A Subway Series with the Patriots on Friday night with first pitch at 6:35 PM and the NYCM Insurance Pregame Show starting at 6:20 PM. Right hander Mike Vasil will go for Binghamton facing Somerset RHP Clayton Beeter.

Postgame Notes: Wyatt Young and JT Schwartz each had multi-hit games for Binghamton.
