Game Recap and Highlights: Ponies Fall to New Hampshire in Low-Scoring Affair

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (13-15, 48-49) fell to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 3-1 on Wednesday night at Mirabito Stadium.

Blade Tidwell made his Double-A debut and allowed three runs on four hits and four walks over four innings, while striking out two. He threw 81 pitches in his first start for the Rumble Ponies.

New Hampshire (9-17, 44-50) scored all three of its runs in the fourth inning. Will Robertson hit an RBI single that made it 1-0 and Steward Berroa hit a two-run double to make it 3-0.

In the fifth inning, Mateo Gil hit the first home run of his Double-A career with a solo shot to left field that made it 3-1.

The Ponies used two pitchers in relief of Tidwell. Daison Acosta and Daniel Juarez combined to throw five innings of one-hit ball with three strikeouts and no walks. Acosta tossed two perfect innings with one strikeout and Juarez threw three innings with two strikeouts.

JT Schwartz went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a single. Schwartz has had three or more hits in three-straight games with 10 hits over that span. He is hitting .571 (12-for-21) in five games since being reinstated from the injured list.

The Rumble Ponies will continue their series against the Fisher Cats on Thursday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PM and pregame coverage will begin at 6:20 PM on the WNBF Rumble Ponies Radio Network.

Postgame Notes: Luisangel Acuña had his first hit with the Mets’ organization with a single in the fourth inning and he reached base twice…César Berbesi recorded the first hit of his Double-A career…Gil now has 11 home runs across High-A Brooklyn and Double-A Binghamton this season, which is a career high.
