The Brooklyn Cyclones (36-26, 64-63) continue their chase for a second-half North Division title against Wilmington Blue Rocks (24-38, 53-73) — the High-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals — on Thursday starting at 7:00 p.m. from Maimonides Park on Coney Island in Brooklyn, N.Y.


RHP Jawilme Ramírez (1-1, 6.56 ERA) is scheduled to take the hill for Brooklyn. Wilmington’s projected to counter with the Nationals’ No. 19 prospect per Baseball America, RHP Andry Lara (6-8, 4.63 ERA).

AST TIME OUT: Brooklyn earned its second-straight win over Wilmington, 7-1, on Wednesday night...Blue Rocks scored first on a solo home run by CF Andrew Pinckney in the top of the 3rd...Cyclones tied the game in the bottom of the inning and took the lead for good on a 2B D'Andre Smith single in the 4th...RF Stanley Consuegra added a solo home run in the 5th...SS Jett Williams picked up a pair of knocks including scoring on a triple and an error in the 6th, adding an RBI single in the 8th...Smith and 3B Jacob Reimer also tallied multi-hit games...SS Kevin Made composed a multi-hit effort for Wilmington...RHP Joshua Cornielly (2.0 IP) and RHP Joe Joe Rodríguez (2.0) combined for 4.0 innings of 2-hit shutout relief to close out the Cyclones' win.

 

ON THE FINAL FEW CORKSCREWS: Brooklyn is looking to secure a second-straight playoff appearance...The Cyclones are 36-26 in the second half and are a game ahead of Jersey Shore (35-27) in the North Division of the SAL with 4 games left to play...The BlueClaws hold the tiebreaker over Brooklyn because of winning the season series (15-11).

      

KING STANLEY: OF Stanley Consuegra broke a tie with C Francisco Álvarez for the franchise record in career home runs by blasting his 23rd with Brooklyn in the top of the 5th on August 23 at Asheville...He added another blast on Wednesday and is 1 home run (21) behind Álvarez (22) for the single-season home run mark...He and Álvarez are the only two players in franchise history to record a 20-plus home run season...Entering Thursday, Consuegra is 4th in the SAL slugging percentage (.483), tied for 4th in home runs (21), tied for 7th in extra-base hits (40), and 8th in total bases (163)...Over his last 18 games since August 17, the 22-year-old is slashing .257/.325/.643 with a .968 OPS, adding 18 runs scored, 2 doubles, 2 triples, 7 home runs, and 20 RBI...Since that date, Stanley has led the SAL in homers (7), RBI (20), total bases (45), and extra-base hits (11) in addition to being tied for the lead in triples (2).
