It's almost here - the Minor League Free Agent period.
"An unsigned minor league player is automatically declared a free-agent at 5 PM (Eastern) on the 5th day after the final game of the World Series (the deadline is 5 PM Eastern on October 15th if the World Series is canceled) if the player has spent all or any part of at least seven separate seasons on a minor league roster."
Last year the Mets granted Free Agency and/or released 30 players on November 11th.
Here's who will be 7 Year Minor League Free Agents this year:
Infielders:
INF Jose Peroza; INF José Peraza; INF Daniel Palka;
While Jose Peraza and Daniel Palka are Major and Minor Veterans and have been through this process before, Jose Peroza will be a 7 year free agent for the first time.
A very good glove at 3B, Baseball America named Jose the Mets Best Defensive Infield Prospect at the start of the 2023 season. He is 7 months younger than Brett Baty and while he has not put up good power numbers in the minors with the Mets (44 HRs in 462 games), he has consistently put up good RBI numbers - 255 in 6 minor league seasons.

Pitchers:
Connor Grey; Daison Acosta; Dedniel Núñez; Marcel RenterÃa; Jose Chacin; Oscar Rojas; Tyler Jay; Tyler Thomas;
Tyler Thomas, who was signed as a minor league free agent during 2023 is participating in this year's Arizona Fall League. It could be an indication that he will re-signed.
Daison Acosta was a 7 Year Free Agent last year. Once a top 30 Mets Prospect, Daison was re-signed right before he could become a Free Agent last year. In 2023, he went 4-3 with a 4.75 ERA out of the bullpen for Binghamton with 39 Ks in 36 innings. He had a tough May and June but went 2-2 with a 1.93 ERA in July/August/September. It is very possible the Mets bring him back.
I personally would love to see the Mets retain Marcel Renteria. Marcell would fit in nicely on the MLB team as he can start or be used for long relief. Injuries have slowed him down these last two years.
Catcher(s):
Jose Mena, a good defensive catcher, was the starting catcher for the 2019 NY Penn League Champions, the Brooklyn Cyclones. In the years since, he has only played a handful of games above Brooklyn - 28 in AA and 3 in AAA,
Outfielders:
Lorenzo Cedrola, minor league free agent signee before the 2023 season.
Agustin Ruiz, 2022 Rule 5 Minor League Draft pick.

Peroza or Peraza - don't care which one, just not both. Two pitchers named Luis Rodriguez is bad enough. Don't need two infielders with just one letter difference in their names.
They released one of the Luis Rodriguezes yesterday.
