Binghamton Recap and Highlights: Ponies Explode for Seven Runs in Seventh Inning in Win Over Hartford

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (12-12) put up seven runs in the seventh inning and defeated the Hartford Yard Goats, 7-2, on Friday night at Mirabito Stadium. The series is now tied, 2-2.

Both teams were scoreless after six innings. Cameron Foster started for Binghamton and struck out three batters over six scoreless frames, while allowing five hits and no walks. Andrew Quezada started for Hartford and struck out four batters over six scoreless innings, while allowing four hits and one walk.

Hartford (14-9) scored first in the seventh inning against Daniel Juarez on an RBI walk from Kyle Datres. Nolan Clenney came in out of the bullpen with runners at the corners and one out and induced an inning-ending double play to hold Binghamton's deficit to one run.

The Ponies exploded for seven runs in the seventh. With one out in the frame, Alex Ramírez singled and Kevin Parada walked. JT Schwartz followed with a game-tying RBI single to make it 1-1. Later in the frame, Mateo Gil drove in Parada with a go-ahead RBI on a fielder's choice that gave Binghamton a 2-1 lead.

With Wyatt Young at the plate, Schwartz scored on a wild pitch to make it 3-1. Young then drove in two runs on an error, which made it 5-1. Later in the frame, Rowdey Jordan hit a two-run double to make it 7-1. The Ponies brought 11 batters to the plate and scored seven runs on three hits, two walks, and two errors.

Clenney (2-0) allowed an unearned run in 2 2/3 innings out of the bullpen with a pair of strikeouts to finish the game.

The Rumble Ponies continue their six-game series with the Hartford Yard Goats (Double-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies) at Mirabito Stadium on Saturday afternoon. First pitch is set for 1:05 PM and the game will be broadcast live on SNY, MiLB.TV, and WNBF News Radio 1290 & 92.1 FM.

Postgame Notes: Schwartz went 3-for-4 and had at least three hits in a game for the second time this season…It marked Schwartz's fourth multi-hit game of the season…Jordan recorded his fourth multi-RBI game of the season…Foster tossed a Double-A career-high six innings…Gil made his Double-A season debut…The Rumble Ponies turned two double plays on defense.
