Here are the Brooklyn Cyclone Game Notes for today's game.

The Brooklyn Cyclones (18-16) will try and return to the win column in a doubleheader against the Bowling Green Hot Rods (18-16) — the High-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays — on Thursday at 6:35 p.m. ET from Bowling Green Ballpark in Bowling Green, Ky.

 

RHP Nolan McLean (2-1, 3.00) — the New York Mets’ No. 11 prospect per Baseball America — is expected to make the start for the Cyclones in the lid-lifter. The Hot Rods are projected to counter with RHP Duncan Davitt (2-2, 4.06).

 

RHP Jordany Ventura (2-0, 2.41 ERA) is scheduled to make his first start of the season for Brooklyn in the nightcap. Bowling Green is projected to give the ball to RHP Trevor Martin (2-2, 4.76), the Rays’ No. 29 prospect per Baseball America.

LAST TIME OUT: Brooklyn dropped the opening game of its series to Bowling Green on Wednesday afternoon, 14-5...The 14 runs and 17 hits accumulated by the Hot Rods were the most against Cyclones pitching in 2024...The 14 runs allowed were the most since a 15-3 loss in 7 innings at Wilmington on August 11, 2021...The 17 hits were the most surrendered since an 11-9 defeat vs. Wilmington in 10 innings on July 25, 2023...CF Nick Morabito picked up his second-straight three-hit game, adding a double, and a team season-high three stolen bases...2B Junior Tilien collected two extra-base hits including a double and a solo home run...1B Nick Lorusso added a three-run home run in Brooklyn's four-run fifth.

 

DOUBLE DARE: The Cyclones will play their second doubleheader of the 2024 season on Thursday...Brooklyn swept its first twinbill against Asheville on April 13...The Cyclones captured the lid-lifter, 6-2, and snagged the nightcap, 3-1...It was the first doubleheader sweep for Brooklyn since June 18, 2022, at Wilmington...The Cyclones won the opener that day in eight innings, 1-0, and then, playing as the home team, won the finale, 4-1...Brooklyn was 0-4-2 in doubleheaders last season and 2-10 overall.

 

MORABITO FUEL: OF Nick Morabito has reached safely all six games since making his High-A and Cyclones debut last Tuesday night and collected his second consecutive three-hit game on Wednesday...The now 21-year-old leads Minor League Baseball in on-base percentage (.520) and wRC+ (203)...He is also second in batting average (.396) and wOBA (.495)...Morabito is the only player at the full-season MiLB level with an OBP greater than .500 and holds a mark 28 points higher than anyone else...The McLean, Va. native's three stolen bases on Wednesday tied nine others for the franchise mark in a single game...Morabito became the first Cyclone to collect three swipes in a single game since LF Alex Ramírez accomplished the feat on July 21, 2023, at Hudson Valley.
