LAST TIME OUT: The Cyclones fell to Aberdeen, 6-1, on Thursday night for their third-straight loss...With the defeat, Aberdeen clinched at least a series split of the six-game set...RHP Kade Morris kept Brooklyn in the game, hurling 6.0 innings of work, allowing two runs on four hits with eight strikeouts...The IronBirds took a 2-1 lead in the sixth and never looked back, plating four more in the eighth...2B Junior Tilien logged an RBI double, and SS Jesús Báez enjoyed his first High-A multi-hit affair...Aberdeen's 3B Mac Horvath collected two hits, drove in two runs, and scored two runs himself.

THIS DATE IN CYCLONES HISTORY: On June 28, 2019, 2B Luke Ritter went 5-for-6 at the plate, tying the then-franchise record for hits in a single game...In the bottom of the ninth, with the Coney Island firework show going off in the background, the infielder hit a game-tying solo home run...Ritter would also provide a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the 11th, as the Cyclones defeated the Lowell Spinners, 5-4...In 2011, LHP Carlos Vasquez (5.0 IP), LHP Orlando Tovar (1.0), RHP Hunter Carnevale (2.2), and LHP T.J. Chism (0.1) combined on a five-hit shutout, as Brooklyn blanked the Aberdeen IronBirds, 1-0, at Ripken Stadium...In 2009, LHP Oliver Pérez made a Major League rehab start for the Cyclones against Hudson Valley...The southpaw tossed 5.0 innings of two-hit scoreless ball, allowing two hits and one walk, striking out six to earn the win...3B Matt Bouchard and CF John Servidio each homered, the latter blasting a grand slam, in a 13-3 win at Maimonides Park.

THE TONG SONG: RHP Jonah Tong tied a career-high with 11 strikeouts over 6.0 innings of one-run ball in a no-decision on Wednesday night in Aberdeen...Since making his South Atlantic League debut on May 2, the 21-year-old is tied for second in the circuit in strikeouts (56) and sixth in ERA (3.38)...Tong has been as good as any pitcher in Minor League Baseball this year, tossing 26.0 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run to start the year...Among full-season Minor Leaguers with at least 60.0 innings of work, the Markham, Ont. native is second in FIP (2.18), third in strikeout rate (35.9%), fifth in strikeout-to-walk rate (25.8%), and tied for sixth in strikeouts (92).
