Tim Healey Newsday: Mets' win streak ends at seven with loss to Rangers after Drew Smith allows tie-breaking homer in seventh. "The difference in the finale with Texas (34-40), which snapped a five-game losing streak: Leody Taveras’ two-run home run off former Rangers fan Drew Smith in the seventh. Smith left a fastball on the inner third of the plate, and Taveras blasted it an estimated 405 feet to right-centerfield."
NY Post: Mets’ win streak ends at seven as bullpen falters in loss
to Rangers “Manaea lasted 5 ²/₃ innings and
allowed three earned runs on two hits with three walks and a hit batter. Manaea needed 36 pitches to get through the
first inning, but surrendered only one run.
Manaea walked Grossman, Adolis Garcia and Josh Smith in succession with
two outs to load the bases before plunking Wyatt Langford to give the Rangers a
1-0 lead.”
Brian Joura Mets360: "But the Mets tied the game in the fourth inning. Brandon Nimmo led off with an excuse-me double and he came around to score on a double by Starling Marte. And they took the lead in the top of the sixth, when Pete Alonso hit a two-run homer."
Abbey Mastracco NY Daily News: "For a moment, the Mets looked as though they would win a season-high eight straight. But the Rangers came right back to tie the game in the bottom of the inning with left-hander Sean Manaea running into trouble. With one out and one on, Josh Smith pulled the ball deep to the right field corner to drive in Robbie Grossman, cutting the Mets’ lead to one. Sean Reid-Foley then relieved Manaea and gave up an RBI single to Wyatt Langford."

Interesting to hear Manaea say Mendoza told him, in so many words after walk-filled first inning, to stop messing around and throw strikes. Alvarez too implored him to trust his stuff, stop trying to make perfect pitches. Mendoza seems to have a good feel for managing these Mets.
