Mets #2 prospect singled on first pitch of game

HARTFORD, CT – Jett Williams singled on the first pitch of the game Friday, but the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (28-26, 63-58) fell to the Hartford Yard Goats 3-0 on Friday night at Dunkin' Park. Hartford has taken three of the first four games in the series.

Williams singled to left on the first pitch he saw from Chase Dollander (2-0) after being activated from the 60-day IL on Friday and rejoining Binghamton. Dollander though would settle in and pitch five and two thirds' innings, allowing only three hits, two walks, and striking out 10 to earn his second career Double-A victory.

Hartford (30-24, 68-54) scored a run in the second, third, and fourth inning. In the second, with a runner on third and two outs, Bladimir Restituyo's RBI single to right put Hartford ahead 1-0 against Cam Foster (3-2). The next inning, again with a runner on third, Juan Guerrero lined an RBI single to right to score Braiden Ward and make it 2-0 Yard Goats.

In the fourth, Braxton Fulford reached on a leadoff walk and stole second, one of six Hartford stolen bases on the evening. The next batter, Kyle Datres, drove him in on another opposite-field single to plate Fulford and make it 3-0 Yard Goats.

Binghamton had multiple runners on base in the first, sixth, and eighth innings but were unable to score. They finished 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position and left 10 on base. Dollander, Brayan Castillo, Carson Skipper, and Juan Mejia combined on the five-hit shutout.

Wyatt Young walked in the first inning to extend his on-base streak to a team-high 24 games. He currently holds the longest on-base streak in the Eastern League.

The Rumble Ponies continue their series in Hartford on Saturday night with first pitch at 6:10 p.m. on the WNBF Rumble Ponies Radio Network, with the NYCM Insurance Pregame Show getting underway at 5:55 p.m. on the WNBF Rumble Ponies Radio Network.

POSTGAME NOTES: Ryan Clifford doubled in the eighth inning to extend his on-base streak to 13 games…Jordany Ventura made his AA Debut and pitched two scoreless and hitless frames in the sixth and seventh.
