The Brooklyn Cyclones (25-30, 58-63) go for their fifth-straight road victory against the Winston-Salem Dash (24-31, 55-66) — the High-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox — at 7 p.m. on Wednesday from Truist Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C.

LHP Zach Thornton (1-2, 5.02) expects to get the ball for the Cyclones. The Dash are projected to counter with LHP Lucas Gordon (1-3, 3.52).

HEART OF A LAYON-EL: RHP Layonel Ovalles rejoined the Cyclones from Single-A St. Lucie on Wednesday...The 21-year-old made 21 appearances out of the bullpen in the Florida State League, posting a 2-1 record with a 5.92 ERA (25 ER in 38.0 IP), 1 save, 28 walks, and 42 strikeouts...Ovalles has pitched his best ball of the season over the last few weeks...In his previous 5 appearances since August 11, the right-hander is 2-0 with a 0.77 ERA (1 ER in 11.2 IP), 1 save, 5 walks, and 17 K's...Ovalles has also thrown 7.1-consecutive scoreless innings since August 15...The Moca, D.R. native made 2 starts for the Cyclones at the tail end of 2023, posting an 0-1 mark with a 3.38 ERA (4 ER in 10.2 IP), 5 walks, and 9 strikeouts...Ovalles entered the year ranked as the New York Mets' No. 33 prospect by Baseball America.
