Mets.com: Lindor finishes 2nd to Ohtani in NL MVP voting "As expected, Lindor finished second to unanimous winner Shohei Ohtani in NL MVP voting, garnering 23 second-place votes and seven third-place tallies. Lindor appeared in the top three on every ballot...the season was Lindor’s best as a Met and one of the finest of his career. Largely because he played exemplary shortstop defense while Ohtani served exclusively as a DH, Lindor was able to amass 7.0 bWAR and 7.8 fWAR. He ranked above Ohtani in the latter category for much of the season’s second half."
David Lennon Newsday: Shohei Ohtani deserves MVP, but Mets' Francisco Lindor made it closer than voting totals would indicate. "In the National League MVP race, no one delivered a better closing argument than Francisco Lindor. His game-winning homer in the ninth inning on the final (bonus) day of the regular season shocked Atlanta and personally put the Mets in the playoffs. With his team’s October dreams hanging in the balance, how could anything, or anyone, be more valuable than what Lindor provided that afternoon at Truist Park?"
Mark W. Sanchez NY Post: Mets’ Francisco Lindor settles for second to Shohei Ohtani in MVP race. "The Mets’ franchise drought continues: Francisco Lindor finished second in National League MVP voting, the organization still without a winner of the award...The Mets have had four players finish as MVP runners-up: Lindor, Darryl Strawberry (1988), Keith Hernandez (1984) and Tom Seaver (1969)."
11/21/24: Mets Roster Moves - Mets sign Joey Meneses and RHP Hobie Harris "Joey Meneses spent the last three years splitting time in AAA and Washington. Before that he saw time in the minors with Philadelphia, Atlanta and Boston. According to FanGraphs, he has two minor league options left. Last year for Washington in 76 games, he hit 3 Homers, 42 RBIs.231/.291/.303. This Winter in the Mexican Pacific League he has 7 HRs, 32 RBIs, .347/.433/.624...Hobie Harris spent all of 2024 in AAA for Minnesota, 44 games - all in relief, 4 wins, 6 losses, 6.79 ERA, 62 Ks, 31 walks in 54.1 innings. FanGraphs has two minor league options left for him as well."
"Without Lindor, the Mets weren't winning anything. To me, he was the most valuable player in the National League"
